Horizon of Paje Beach

I have been in Tanzania and Zanzibar for a month and this is the worst hotel I have been at. 1. Let's start with the fact that they don't know to clean the rooms, we got to our rooms and all the sheets were stained on them. It was at night and it took more than 40 min to change it so eventually, we took the sheets and change them by ourselves. 2. They never clean the pool. The filter pump of the pool isn't working, so the pool is full of dirt in it. Worst than this, It so much time that way that the pool starts to mold. Let's not talk about the fact of all the mosquitos it brings. 3. All the place is not well kept. A lot of the sitting area outside is broken or with a lot of tears. Breakfast. They put the breakfast outside at 07:00 am in the sun and leave it that way till 10:00. All the fruits and the milk stayed outside. Recommend not to take a risk and it from there (don't challenge your belly ;). Oh, it's also important to say that it cost an extra 15$ they never told us it cost any extra money, so I'm telling you now. (it's 35,000 shillings - it's a lot of money for breakfast. you can get such a good meal with this amount of money, go waste it somewhere else. You will get a much better meal). 4. Price. The hotel is not cheap. Considering what you getting I recommend you spend this money somewhere else and get much more for your buck. In summary, I highly not recommend this hotel. I can recommend a hotel nearby - called "NDAME" we slept there and it was amazing. Great rooms, on the sea, really good breakfast, and the best pool in paje! Highly recommend this. With a beautiful location right on the beach, this hotel is highly recommended. The staff was helpful, kind and approacable. The kitchen made breakfast with omelet, lunchmenu had a lot of options, and dinner was amazing. Recommends grilled octopus, with an affordable bottle of whitewine, price range from $16 and upwards. Cleaning excellent, reception service excellent and after spending 5 days here and in the ocean just outside we were relaxed and happy. After all 5 stars from us. Thanks to all staff for a lovely stay!

I hardly ever write reviews because it is frankly time consuming. However, given that this was my first trip to Zanzibar and I relied on the reviews of other guests, it is only right that I share my first hand experience of the accommodation. Firstly, I was astonished when I was told I would incur 5% card fees if I paid by card rather than cash on checking in. When I queried this, the fees were waived since this was not mentioned anywhere on my booking details. This did not set a good first impression. When I arrived at my room, to say that I was underwhelmed was an understatement. The room's damp smell made me nauseous, and I was shocked at the lack of cleanliness in the room and bathroom. The biggest issue was the lack of privacy. Since the rooms are right by the pool, other guests can easily see into your room if the curtains are pulled back. With the curtains drawn, you would obviously not get a view of the pool or sea. The pictures on *********** do not accurately reflect the reality. The accommodation and its grounds are much smaller, and the standard of cleanliness is poor. The biggest disappointment was the attitude of the hotel staff when I expressed my concerns. I decided that the accommodation was not worth staying, even for one night. So I left. Based on my experience, there is better accommodation for the price in Paje.

We spent a wonderful two weeks at the hotel! In terms of location, it was perfect for us, the last hotel on the beach so it is very quiet and intimate in the evenings, but everything can be reached with a few minutes' walk, restaurants and shops. Cleaning and fresh towels every day. Very clean throughout the hotel. The hotel restaurant is very good, the staff is kind and polite. I would like to single out Sara, who gilded our every day with her endless kindness and smile! We'll be back😉

We enjoyed our stay very much! The hotel is beautiful, right on the beach. Our room was comfortable and decent sized for 2 people. It is guarded 24/7 which was nice. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Any question we had or request they accommodated. They helped us arrange taxes and scooters for a couple of things we had going on around the island. Sada was a staff member we saw frequently during our stay and she was always so warm and welcoming. Zanzibar has so much to offer and is really fun, so I suggest going out and doing things! But, if you decide to stay and relax at the hotel, this is a great one to do so at. The pool(s) are clean and the lounge chairs are comfortable. You can walk right down steps to the ocean, which is amazing. I would recommend bringing cash with you to pay for things, as many places, including the hotel, charge 5% for using a credit card. If you have US currency, many places will take that. The closest ATM we found to the hotel was about .6 miles of a walk. The food at the hotel was also good. Breakfast is included. We didn’t eat lunch there but dinner was good when we did eat. They also do tea time with tea and fruit/pastries which was nice. All in all, would recommend this hotel for your stay!!!

La posizione dell'Hotel è davvero incredibile: cinque gradini sopra la bellissima spiaggia di Paje! Il patio della camera è una chicca, con due comode poltrone, (ovviamente conviene scegliere una camera con vista mare). Il Personale fa di tutto per rendersi utile. I lettini sulla terrazza sono comodi e sufficienti per tutti. Insomma, nonostante l'albergo non risponda alle aspettative siamo comunque stati bene. Però c'è da rilevare che non bastano due accappatoi per assegnare cinque stelle ad un hotel. Le camere hanno arredi molto molto semplici; sono grandi, è vero, ma occupate da letti supplementari non richiesti e non eliminabili, con un tavolino minuscolo ma nessuna sedia per sedersi; il bagno non ha il bidet e aveva delle perdite, mai completamente riparate nonostante la buona volontà del Personale; l'acqua calda non è sempre disponibile; il cambio degli asciugamani va richiesto con insistenza, altrimenti anche lasciandoli a terra è capitato che ce li hanno raccolti, ripiegati e rimessi di nuovo in uso. La colazione è sufficiente ma c'è poca scelta e la qualità non è granchè; apprezzabili snack e aperitivi offerti gratuitamente durante la giornata, ma la qualità è piuttosto scarsa. Il ristorante (ci abbiamo mangiato solo una sera) non regge il confronto con i numerosi ristoranti nei paraggi, che hanno un rapporto qualità-prezzo decisamente migliore. Insomma, una bella struttura che avrebbe bisogno però di una maggior cura generale o, in alternativa, di una classificazione adeguata al livello (3 stelle) e prezzi conseguentemente più contenuti.
