The Pig at Harlyn Bay - Cornwall

We have visited all The Pigs, but this one. It was worth the wait. We had a fabulous room with a sea view and roll top Bath. Dinner was delicious and service was excellent. The hotel has many small snug rooms to relax in as well as great outdoor spaces if you are blessed with good weather. This Pig we highly recommend and is worth the long drive. The beach is spectacular and literally a 10 minute walk away. The staff recommended brilliant walks. Thank you for making my birthday a memorable day x

A party of 5 for lunch..including 2 granddaughters ages 5 and 9.Unenthusiastic staff.Food took ages and the children’s lunches didn’t even arrive. Informed their order hadn’t been handed in.Food eventually arrived and were told no charge for children but they added service charge!Food average. Experience underwhelming. Conclusion won’t be going back .

Another excellent stay at a Pig Hotel. We stayed for 3 nights to celebrate my birthday. Super hotel, comfortable rooms, log fires, great food, and wonderful staff where nothing was too much trouble which made it a memorable occasion. We will definitely be staying again. Well done!

Yesterday had a delightful late lunch at The Pig Cornwall, served by a very helpful and knowledgeable Maisie. I say knowledgeable as she knew quite a bit of the history of the Pig franchise and needless to say, I was impressed. With friends from the New Forest, they had been to the original Pig Brockenhurst, Pig On the Beach and had celebrated their wedding anniversary at the opening of this Pig in Cornwall. The food we ordered was well prepared, cooked and delicious, could not fault it in any way. Service and attention to detail immaculate, from the mains, the sides, desserts, coffees and the Pig Cut wines. Visiting from Australia, I highly recommend the opportunity for you to be entertained at a Pig near you.

We had a much needed two night break at the end of November. I chose The Pig as it looked like it would allow us to have a quiet, cosy and relaxing couple of days and I’m so glad I did. After unpacking in our lovely, spacious and pristine comfy luxe with terrace room, we started our stay with a cocktail in front of the woodburner in the bar area (great advice from the bar staff when I didn’t know what to choose!). Our evening meal on the first night was delicious, tasty and so good that I had the same main course on the second night (monkfish tail). The service was excellent, with attentive and smiling staff. On the second day we both treated ourselves to a massage with Harrie which was wonderful, relaxing and snug in the potting shed (with a heated bed which I just wanted to take home with me!!). While my husband was having his massage I settled into one of the cosy lounges (all with wood burners). The lady who served me my coffee was so kind, regularly checking to make sure the fire was still ablaze. Thank you. After an excellent and tasty lunch in the restaurant we went for a long walk, taking advice from the lovely young lady on reception who provided us with a map. That left us tired but happy and ready for another cocktail and a delicious evening meal. We were made to feel so welcome by the gentleman (sorry I don’t know his name) who signed us in for dinner on both nights that we really felt like part of the family. Finally, a word about the breakfasts. We had a choice of a large spread of breakfast items or something cooked. On both mornings we opted for the buffet spread as it was so delicious. The muffins were so tasty and the choice of granola, boiled eggs, toast, pastries, fruit etc was more than enough for us but the cooked food did look very tasty too. We’re so glad we chose The Pig, it provided just what we needed and we really hope to be back as soon as we can as we’d love to explore some more of the local beaches and walks.

BE WARNED Failure on our part for not reading the small print on the menu - 12.5% Service Charge is added to the bill AND the service charge was also taken on the amount paid by the Hotel to a local charity (£1)! This was a sting in the tail for us and as a result - we will not be returning.
