The Fountain Inn & Riverside Restaurant

We stayed at the hotel (which is a pub with bedrooms, not a hotel) for a long weekend and had booked the family room,which l hadn't realised was a room within a room so two single beds in a room you accessed via the main room. I think this would have been ok but it was an adult and child in each room which meant those with the single beds didn't have access to a TV, and you had to walk back through the main room to use the toilet. On our second night there was a live band on the decking right outside the window (apparently there is one every Saturday) but you cannot shut the window in the bedroom so whether you liked or not you had to put up with the noise. I Sked on saturday if l could book for the carvery on the Sunday and was told they didn't know if it would be on? There were also a couple of blinds that you were unable to open. When the toilet broke they were very quick to fix it, but the service just wasn't really there, when we e arrived there were 4 cups in the room, only 2 had hot chocolate and not all had a biscuit, and there was no check on a daily basis, l had to ask for additional toilet roll once we had run out, on the last morning we arrived in the breakfast room for minutes after the service closed, and was offered cereal only, which l declined and instead have requested a refund £25 paid in advance (given that breakfast is made to order once you selected what you wanted) but the declined on the basis they are a small business and we were offered something. On the whole l would recommend you don't book breakfast in advance, I don't think we would look to stay there again, as it's not really the right environment for young children.

A warm welcome from all the staff. Really looked after us during our motorcycle tour of the south west. The food is top notch and the menu varied and a good selection for vegetarians. The room was just big enough for the two of us and very clean. Recommend.

The food was amazing and so huge no skimping on portions here and cooked to perfection the staff are really friendly. Decor was great and in keeping with the age of the property. Toilets were extremely clean. Beer garden was well equipped and large with plenty of seating spaces. Would definitely go again.
