Maxwell Del Mar Hotel

I recently returned from a week at this charming hotel. I chose it based on the previous reviews so many thanks to those travellers for their entries. My initial impression after the lovely receptionist showed me to my room was, “this is great, it’s like staying at a friend’s house where there is a super guest suite.” The previous five-star reviews are all accurate as is the information on the hotel’s website. I am a female baby boomer and was travelling solo as my husband was unable to join me during this, my fourth, visit to Barbados. I just had to have a week away from the U.K. winter. The Maxwell del Mar was the perfect choice. I felt safe and secure at all times at this hotel and in this neighbourhood. Everything works. Staff are professional and very friendly. Talented professionals in the kitchen and all the delicious food is made from scratch. Very good selection on the menu. Breakfast is included and it was always first-rate. The rum punch served up by Hal, the experienced barman, is the best I’ve ever had. The hotel has been renovated to a very high standard. The level of cleanliness is excellent. The bed was very comfortable and the linen and towels top quality. I was so impressed with the walk-in shower in my room as no water made its way to the bathroom floor. (This is not always the case even in five-star establishments). Yes, it’s on the main road and traffic can be noisy but none of the rooms face the road and you cannot hear traffic whilst indoors. This is offset by the convenience of having the bus stop right outside. This is not a criticism but I was in room 102 which I liked very much but I think it could be somewhat cramped for two guests as most of the room is taken up by the king size bed. I took a look at other rooms and they are more spacious. I am delighted to recommend this hotel to fellow travellers. Thank you to everyone at Maxwell Del Mar - it was a pleasure to stay with you and I would definitely stay there again.

I thoroughly enjoyed the experience, my only concern was the noise due to the roadside of which they would have no control over however once looked past everything else was amazing!

I was pleasantly surprised about cleanliness and security of this hotel. Small but my room and seemed like whole place was totally renovated. 10 min walk to beach & on bus route. Across street from Sandals. And very reasonable price. Thank you;

Overall very nice. Up to date facilities just a little noisy with cars passing and music playing very early in the morning

The stay was excellent. The fees were very affordable. The rooms were decently sized and clean. The staff were hospitable, especially Matthew. He was extremely hospitable and helpful. The only downsides we have are: 1. Strange sounds I heard in Room 103, where we stayed, where it sounded like water dripping from an AC unit or faucet from the rooms above; 2. The walls appear to be thin, as sound travels very easily. We can hear people's conversations, the ringing of cell phones, etc. Apart from that, it was excellent. We will definitely return once God spares our lives next year. 

Everything was great. The staff was even better. They were soo friendly and they honestly made you feel at home.

Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Clean rooms and comfortable beds. However parking is off site from property which is a inconvenience

The place is an absolute beauty and steal for the price. Nice small, cozy room. Very clean. Staff was amazing, I would go back just to chat with them. Hal and Kenneth were very nice. Very accommodating and helpful with getting around. We didn't eat there much so I really can't comment about the food. Only thing is that you don't get much service over the weekend. So if you want any housekeeping services, ensure you request it before Saturday. That was a bit inconvenient for us since we came in on Friday to spend the weekend. Needed some extra towels and couldn't get them because housekeeping already left. But otherwise loved it. I would go again.

My stay at Max Well Delmar was lovely, the service from the staff was excellent, they were very kind and helpful. My room was just like what I’ve seen in the pictures. The only down fall was my room was close to the road. Which made it disturbing at nights and early in the morning, due to the high frequency of traffic. I would like to recommend double glazing glass windows and glass for the door. Overall, the experience was great, the room was lovely and I would recommend anyone to stay there.
