Hotel Nova Riviera

My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights in mid-September, ‘23, as part of a small-group tour of the Balkans. We liked the hotel very much, and would also recommend it for independent travelers. The hotel is well-located, a short walk from the waterfront area through a pleasant park that borders the lake. There are numerous restaurants and shops nearby, and the boat dock area is a short walk away. The hotel has a large, attractive lobby that opens into a restaurant area where dinner and breakfast are served. The restaurant opens to the park and lake and has a fairly large outdoor seating area. The breakfast buffet was extensive and good, though a bit short on fresh-cut fruit. Our room (201) was large and attractively decorated in a modern grey color scheme. It has two comfortable twin beds, two night stands with outlets, a desk, a side chair and small table. There was an open closet area with shelves and room for open suitcases which was very convenient. The moderate-sized bathroom had attractive tile, a shelf above and below the stylishly raised sink, and a nice shower. Wifi in the room was pretty good, but we had to repeatedly log in. Overall we enjoyed our stay here. It is a comfortable, convenient, and well-managed hotel and would be a good choice for Ohrid.

This was our worst dining experience in Ohrid. Service was poor and I can only describe the waiter as surly and uninterested. Placed our orders for Chicken Shashlik with fries and stuffed chicken breast with potatoes. I will start with the shashlik and fries. The fries were barely warm and the shashlik was missing the peppers that should have been on it. The chicken pieces were a good size and each was wrapped in bacon as expected but both chicken and bacon were tepid. The stuffed chicken breast and potatoes never materialised. Instead along came rolled chicken breast with cheese and chips. In fairness, no one said what form the potatoes would be in... The chicken although the wrong meal was actually hot. Bad experience, would never recommend it to anyone and yet the restaurant was full. However, there was a lot of food being left on plates. Do yourself a favour and look elsewhere. There are are lots of much better places to eat in Ohrid.

Meine Bewertung wäre deutlich besser ausgefallen, wenn es nur darum ginge das Zimmer zu bewerten. Aber von vorne: das Hotel liegt sehr schön ufernah an der Promenade. Mein Zimmer war geräumig, modern sauber mit einem schönen Bad. Die Zimmer nach hinten gelegen sind auch schön ruhig. Die zur Promenadenseite gelegenen Zimmer leiden aber durch den Lärmpegel der Promenade oder der Livemusik vom Restaurant. Dieses Restaurant ist in keiner Weise zu empfehlen. Die Vorspeisenplatte war noch sehr schön mit unterschiedlichsten, lokalen Spezialitäten inklusive der Knoblauchsauce. Das Hauptgericht kam nur lauwarm auf den Tisch. Darauf angesprochen reagierten die Kellner eher desinteressiert. Wenn dann auch noch die Getränkerechnung „irrtümlich“ überhöht war und korrigiert wurde, macht das kein gutes Bild. Empfehlung für das Hotel - Fernbleiben vom Restaurant !
