If you book with Trio you get the worst room in the hotel. That's how we were greeted and that's how it turned out. Super loud and very, very small. A room right next to the reception. The service was very inattentive every day. We had to order or remember things several times. The food was not good and far too expensive. The whole hotel is not worth the price. Not recommended!

This is the one and only Boutique hotel we stayed during our tour around the country. We felt the difference when we arrived at the site with a contemporary welcome. This is at Nanu Oya, about 15 minutes’ drive away from Nuwara Eliya Town towards Thalawakele. We had to change the allocated room as the view was a bit obstructed. It is a small hotel with about 14 rooms in total with few room categories in an old bungalow. There was a temperature controlled (manually) stunning swimming pool in this hill country. Garden was very nicely decorated. They have their own vege garden in the hotel itself. Meals were very good. There was a heater but no Air Conditioner in the room as it’s in Nuwara Eliya, but we felt too hot in the nighttime and had to use the fan. It was a different experience for us. A step back into colonial Sri Lanka. A boutique hotel that is a perfect location for a tea plantation walk or visit. Surrounded by many tea plantations this is a perfect place to stay, the hotel only has a few rooms of which ours (deluxe) was excellent, The staff were attentive, a separate bar and great views over the garden for breakfast and dinner. It is a pool that can be kept at body temperature if you let the staff know you are going to use it, plus there is a mini golf area to use. All in all Janet and I loved our stay here at Langdale especially as Aloka was always at hand to assist.

One of the best property with awesome food and the cooking brought out all the flavors. Staff was soft spoken and the rooms was very clean and comfortable. After long drive it was worth to be here and enjoy with nature . Quality time spent with family.

Excellent place to stay, nice boutique hotel, welcoming staff, charming rooms and common spaces, all good. As soon as you cross the door entrance you feel at home. Possible also to have a walk in the tea plantations nearby and see sunset and sunrise, romantic views !

Very nice place. The view is amazing, the people are very helpful and friendly, good beds, good food and clean. We didn’t want to leave, I definitely recommend to go here if you look for a beautiful and relaxing stay in the middle of the tea plantages of Nuwara Eliya.

A fabulous country house hotel set in stunning scenery amongst beautifully tended gardens.The food was superb and the service was just outstanding. Our room was very comfortable and beautifully appointed. During our tour of Sri Lanka we stayed in some lovely hotels .But the Langdale was the best ,it wins all the prizes .I cannot recommend it highly enough.

First of all; we didn’t want to leave this beautiful place! As soon as we arrived it felt like being welcomed into your Grandmas house. With all the homely touches and comfort yet sprinkled with luxurious finishes. We cannot compliment the staff enough, they were all so friendly and dedicated to making our stay perfect. With each having great knowledge of the menus, information regarding the hotel and the local area. It didn’t matter if we were sitting in the garden with a refreshing glass of white wine, bathing in the heated swimming pool or strolling through the adjacent tea fields, every step was 5 stars. We would like to extend a big thank you to Sanjeewa for making our stay so pleasant! And for the phone call to make sure we arrived safe in our first attempt at driving a tut tut. Thank you 🫶🏼

As a stop in the tea country you can’t really go wrong with the Langdale. Definitely a little bit of Britain so make sure you’re OK with that. The rooms are simple but have most of what you need except a fridge. Views are lovely and the main areas have a bit of the feel of your Gran’s house but clean and tidy nevertheless. All food is prepared individually and the waiting staff are friendly and don’t miss a trick. If you are staying definitely go half board as it is about 20 minutes from Nuwara Eliya. They have a short hike you can do, a lovely heated but small pool and tennis and badminton court. Some previous reviews said it was in a busy area but we struggled to find any business nearby. The only thing you need to be aware of (and it did not bother us) is that there are some lovely rooms in an annexe which is very peaceful and where we stayed. Room 208 has views to die for but is near an extractor duct from the kitchen. They do turn it off when not in use and it did not disturb our sleep. However in the early evening you can’t really have balcony doors and windows open unless you like the smell of cooking onions and garlic!
