Mandaram Eco Resort

After two years of planning, my family and I were beyond excited to finally visit Mandaram Nuwara during our Christmas vacation. We chose this resort for its scenic location near waterfalls, hoping for a peaceful, memorable holiday. However, from the start, things went wrong. Despite informing them of our early arrival at noon, we were made to wait until 2 PM for the shuttle. The car park was poorly marked and lacked security, adding to the frustration. The real shock came on our second day. We requested the shuttle to take us to our car, and upon return, we were confronted by a staff member—whom we later discovered was the owner—rudely demanding Rs. 6,500 for the ride. It wasn’t about the money; the issue was that this additional charge was never communicated to us in advance, even though the resort had recently updated its terms and conditions. We felt blindsided and disrespected, especially given that this was supposed to be a special time for our family. To make matters worse, the food was basic and satisfactory—nothing extraordinary, which we didn’t expect—but the resort made no effort to create a memorable experience for Christmas Eve. My wife, son, and I were devastated. What should have been a much-anticipated family holiday turned into a nightmare. My wife and son were so upset, and it felt like our entire holiday was wasted. This was supposed to be a time of joy and relaxation, but instead, it became an ordeal we’ll never forget. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.

it’s a very nice experience. diving into heavy mist the Mandaram Eco Resort is the ideal place to stay at Mandaramnuwara.. Situated on the slope of Piduruthalagala mountain range this hotel is ideal for hiding out from the busy and polluted environment. How to reach there Go along Padiyapelella - nuwaraeliya road And turn right at Elamulla junction. Go for another 5 to 6 km along the narrow but motorable road up to the resorts car park, which is situated 3 1/2 km before the resort. You can park the vehicle securely at the car park and the next 3 1/2 km will be handled by the Resort. They provide transport from there onwards in a safari Jeep free of charge. On your way to the hotel you will see the beautiful Kabaragala falls just before the resort. Our experience at the resort The reception is mostly welcoming with the nice lady in charge of The reception. The meals are worth the price charged. They arranged us a barbecue session at night with variety of meats. The only negative point was the location used for the barbecue. it was a very congested place with rainy surroundings and the fear of leches. They should have arranged the barbecue in a much spaced location . Anyway, the barbecue was nice. The rooms are of chalet type with ample space and luxury with wooden upper floor of attic type.. Access to one of the chalets Near near entrance to the reception, Wass slippery and shaky wooden bridge, which get attention of the management to improve the stability of it . Sometimes it was slippery and the broken wooden hand railings terrifying. In a nutshell. --------------------- The service and the staff are excellent and they provided us additional food items as quickly as possible when we requested. Meals are good and tasty including the barbecue visiting is highly recommended for those who needs to get away from the busy schedules and get mental relaxation. Finally, there are leeches all over and it’s Really nice experience to get rid of them from time to time which is a different experience.

The safari experience we had at Mandaram Eco Resort was nothing short of amazing. From the moment we parked our car, we were greeted with warm hospitality and guided through breathtaking views. The safari itself was memorable, with knowledgeable guides adding depth to the experience. A definite must-do at Mandaram!

Eco Resort's proximity to the world-famous chariot path made our hike truly unforgettable. The resort provided experienced guides who made the hike both informative and enjoyable. The views along the path were spectacular, and we felt completely immersed in nature. Highly recommend this adventure!

Even better than I expected ... Simply a beautiful location with many options to hike through the woods .... An enchanting water fall near by that's just a short walk from the Eco resort ... Very private comfortable living arrangements ... exceedingly friendly and helpful staff ... And reasonable pricing ... All led to my memorable stay ... If you are looking for a quiet relaxing stay nestled in the hill country in Sri Lanka... this would be a great option. Dr.Jayamanne.
