Game Fish Lodge

We had an amazing time. Pros Colin and Lesley - they are the warmest welcoming hosts and will offer lots of advice regarding places to go, how much to pay etc. They are good company and we spent many evenings chatting over a drink. Food - what can I say about the food. Breakfast fills you up for the day consists of pancakes with fresh fruit and a choice of omelettes or English/American breakfast and is included. Colin will cook the most amazing evening meals if requested. The fish is always fresh on the day and the flavours are just sublime. We ate in a few different restaurants - but none compared to the meals we had at Gamefish Lodge. Location - in a quiet location outside of the hustle and bustle of the main resort but still within easy access. Simplicity - Gamefish lodge offers clean basic accommodation with amazing views, beach access, swimming pool but with a personal touch which is a nice change to the soulless all inclusive resorts. Iff you are looking for a 5 star hotel, this is not the place to go. However iff you look for a place to relax, privacy no nonsense and fantastic food for a fair price, this is a little paradise. Lesley and Collin are your host, so sweet and nice, we have had an amazing holiday, we can only give our very very best recommendations, thank you again

We were looking for a quiet but quality stay at Nungwi and liked the look of Game Fish Lodge. However, the warm hosts and excellent location rose well above our expectations. Lesley and Colin are always available to guide you on how to make the most of your stay in Zanzibar, which is great for a tourist as there are plenty of ways to waste time and get scammed in the island. We also had great conversations with them over sumptuous meals. Our stay was incredible and we truly missed this kind of service in our next stay in the island. Highly recommended!

Colin and Lesley are excellent hosts and genuine, lovely, friendly people who made our stay in Zanzibar so enjoyable and memorable, we had a fabulous holiday. If you, like us, want to avoid the usual chain-type hotel and are looking for somewhere owner-managed, small, personal and quiet with a great location and a little bit away from the hustle on the beach and streets of Nungwi, this is for you. Colin and Lesley care deeply and work really hard for their guests. You’ll see spectacular sunrises and have direct access to the beach where you can take a short walk to a beautiful sand bar in one direction, or walk a little further in the other direction and find yourself in the busy resort area. There are plenty of places to eat and drink within walking distance. You have the best of both worlds! Colin’s cooking is amazing and we loved our breakfasts and several evening meals. There’s a well stocked honesty bar for beer, soda and water so a beer, swim in the pool and a lazy afternoon with our books was a great way to relax. We were so grateful for their guidance on the sights to see and correct prices to pay, and we had a lot of fun using the motorcycle taxis ($1 each into the centre of Nungwi, $2 to Kendwa). Colin’s humour made us laugh so much we were almost crying at times! Overall, Game Fish Lodge is great value, down-to-earth and straightforward, which we loved! Me and the family had such a good stay at Game fish. Collin and Leslie were both very helpful and accommodating, helping us with everything from booking different trips to helping with blisters from our shoes. The best hosts for trips like these. Hilaly who is also working for game fish was an absolutely lovely man while keeping up with everything that needed to be done. He is so very kind and helpful. They served an outstanding breakfast every morning and dinner when requested. Game fish is in a very good location in Nungwi, it’s close to everything, but not in the middle of the crowds. It was easy to both get your own space but also go out and explore the beautiful place you’re visiting. Will definitely be staying here when I go back.

An amazing place to stay in Zanzibar, everywhere else it’s crowded and unpleasant with little to no personal space. But game fish lodge is amazing, it’s beautiful with a lovely sight over the sea and Leslie and Colin and their employee Hilaly are absolutely lovely people. They are funny, nice, interesting and make the best breakfast you can imagine and incredible dinner when arranged. I recommend game fish over any place for the best Zanzibar experience!
