It's pretty rare for a Premier Inn to be disappointing. The formula is so simple and reliable, and you know exactly what you're getting. So it was a shame that at this one things were not right. I didn't experience any of the cleanliness issues that other reviewers have reported. But the fact that the hotel has been built with no opening windows in the rooms makes it a very unpleasant stay because the room is so airless and humid. (And yes, this is after fiddling with the air conditioning and turning the fan up high, with no effect.) Staff were friendly, as always, and at least at breakfast there were enough of them around. Breakfast was the usual decent range of choices, but the hot dishes had been out under the lights for so long that the eggs had been cremated and there a thick skin had formed on top of the pan of beans. That's disappointing at shortly before 8 am. The hotel badly needs better signage. There is free parking (good) but you can't immediately tell which car park it's in (not good) - it's the entrance which is past the hotel reception when coming from the Botley Road, not before it. Once you're in the car park, there are signs reading "Premier Inn" pointing in bewildering directions - it's not clear whether this indicates where you're supposed to park or how to walk out of the car park to get to the hotel entrance. There is a handy selection of shops right outside the hotel entrance.
