Great traditional lodge on the crater rim. Very clean and functional rooms. WiFi is a little spotty across the property. The rooms are comfortable and fantastic view into the crater its self. Makes it very convenient to then go on an early game drive the following morning. Food is good with buffet starters and deserts and a choice of main course. A lovely touch which I’ve never experienced before was a hot water in each bed when we returned to our room after dinner. Whilst u didn’t feel the need for one our daughter was very appreciative and actually took 2 of them. The staff across the property were always attentive and extremely polite.

This is an excellent property located at the rim of Ngorongoro rim. Location is superb, amidst dense forest offering panoramic view of Ngorongoro crater. Architecture of the property is good. Staff is hospitable. Restaurant is good. Undoubtedly, the property is overpriced.

he Serena hotels are excellent and a class above the other hotels we stayed during our Safari. Location, location, location. Serena has an unparalled view of the Ngorngoro crater and each room has a balcony overlooking the crater. This is a great location for a base for Safaris to the crater. We ordered a packed picnic breakfast, which was the best picnic food /packed food we had from any hotel during our Safari, including hot coffee, and tea, and food (including vegetarian) that we enjoyed at a picnic spot within the crater. Lunch and dinner service were excellent, thanks to Erick and the team. Lunch was a set menu which included vegetarian options. Excellent bread, salad and soups. At dinner, the bread, and soups were brought to the table, with an excellent buffet including main course, salads and desserts. Truly a cut above the other food and service we have had on our safari.

An outstanding feature of the lodge is the view. We arrived just in time to see the sunset. Our room, and it appeared that a good portion of rooms, have a great view! This hotel was larger than many we visited on our trip and it seemed that it had less “soul”. I realize that’s a subjective hard to describe term. It felt more business-like than other places. The restaurant staff seemed stressed. Our box lunch the following day was prepared by the lodge and it had many items that we didn’t request (muffin, chips, etc.) that came with lots of packaging. The sandwich in the lunch was not very tasty. It just seemed to be wasteful. I don’t think there are lots of options in the area. It certainly is fine for a night, but I would arrange for a different lunch over the lodge’s box lunch.

Again, another amazing Serena Lodge. Right on the edge of the Ngorongoro Crater. Various antelope wander right in front of you and the occasional monkey. The views down 2000 ft into the crater are amazing. The construction of this lodge is unique, all rocks and wood.

We spent three nights at Ngorongoro Serena Safari Lodge. The hotel located on a hill guarantees a wonderful view of the crater. Fantastic room, restaurant and bar too. Excellent service also deserves recognition. The drive to the crater reserve is about 15 minutes, and here breathtaking views and a lot of animals. We highly recommend the hotel and reserve.

We spent 3 nights in this wonderful place. It has an old colonial style with beautiful views.Most travellers only spent one night in the lodge en route from Serengeti . We had a relaxing 2 full days of safari in the Crater. Food in lodge was good. Alternating from sit down and buffet service. Did a Nature Walk around the grounds with a guide (Yotham )and Masai guard. Yotham was entertaining. There were many bird species seen and heard. In the morning an elephant was grazing around the lodge and several buck deer. Thanks to Erich the Manager for welcoming us . Brilliant stay

Great location with a beautiful view on the crater. Similar to the Serena Serengeti we were very please with this hotel. Good size and clean room. Comfortable bed . Food was good however there is room for improvement- my fish was overcooked. Service. was professional and quick. We wish to stayed longer and enjoyed the facility of this hotel. We would like to thank you to Serena hotels
