Oualie Beach Resort

It's a quiet, low-key place, with air-conditioned, nice large rooms. The restaurant is good, moderately priced, but nothing fancy. The staff is friendly and helpful. They organize transfers from St Kitts. The Island tour they booked was very nice. The place does not have a snack-bar and does not have a store where you can buy even an aspirin. The message therapist was absolutely wonderful. Nevis is nice and very quiet. Most of the reviews are accurate, but do not describe any shortcomings if you are used to larger, more fancy resorts.

We stayed for four nights as part of a Swimtrek group. Our room type was the basic room on the beach. The room was spacious and clean with excellent air conditioning and equipped with a refrigerator freezer. The front desk was exceptionally helpful and took care of all our transportation and and restaurant reservations. I've stayed at many fancy resorts and no place beats Oualie for value. Oualie does not have many facilities, but if you are looking for a beautiful tranquil location, this is the place to stay

Such a friendly hotel. On the beach. Had a wonderful time. We were looked after superbly well. Beware, no shops nearby but it is very easy and cheap to take the bus to Charlestown to get supplies. Worth renting a car to explore historic places.

We booked 10 nights at Oualie Beach Resort, choosing Nevis rather than St Kitts, because we prefer resorts close to the beach that are not over crowded but also not in total isolation. Oualie did not disappoint. The staff are friendly and helpful when needed - the hotel grounds are regularly groomed, whilst the proximity of the accommodation to the sea makes the early morning swim along the beach a must. The hotel food served is good with traditional Caribbean but with limited choice. There are, however, three to four alternative restaurants nearby - although watch out for prices - on line menu quotes omit local taxes that are high and can lead to costly meals at the more expensive alternatives. The hotel offers BBQ on a Sunday afternoon, plus music/live band on Tuesday. The live band was fabulous fun, especially when jamming towards the end of the evening after the main act had left - spontaneous and unrehersed. Rooms are kept clean and air conditioned throughout the day but we turned ours off when out of the room - balcony gave great views of the sea and palms - we were in room 229. Nearby is Lovers Beach - often isolated but stunning - the currents were strong on that beach so we avoided swimming but standing in the warm water chest high was a fabulous experience with the waves washing over. We spent an hour each day on this beach in the later afternoons. To fully appreciate the Isand Car Rental is recommended - a taxi into Charlestown can be up to $20 US - so probably best to book car hire in advance. Be warned about Tourist traps on the Island - there are a few - so check out Tripadvisor before visiting ... ... but do consider Oualie Beach Resort. We loved the location and the staff.

We had a good holiday at Oualie Beach. The staff were pleasant (special mention to Michelle and Terian) and the food was OK. Sunday night live music in the bar was good but the Tuesday night session was really great. Room cleanliness was good. On the other hand there was certainly some scope for making our stay more enjoyable. There was a general lack of comfort in the room and in the shared areas. Only one comfortable chair in a double room was just not enough and some weird sun loungers on the balcony were tricky not what we expected. Beach sun loungers were OK and there was plenty of shade under the trees…. better to have trees that unsightly sunshades. I would have expected some beach chairs and small side table to be provided. Although the staff were pleasant enough there didn’t seem to be a ‘happy customer focus’. The hotel seemed to be suffering from a lack of maintenance and comfort. The most irritating aspect of our stay was the use of cut down wine bottles being used as glasses…. ugly, cheap and unhygienic.

We recently stayed at the Oualie Beach Resort for a long weekend. They arranged our transport from the airport in St. Kitts to the resort (taxi, water taxi) which was extremely convenient - the water taxi dropped us off on the beach just steps away from the resort. While there, we rented an ATV (from Nevis Scooter Rental), which allowed us to travel freely around the island, visiting museums, beaches, hiking trails and the downtown area easily and safely (highly recommend!) The resort is right on the water, and they provide lounge chairs and towels for guests. Our room was spacious and comfortable and the food at the onsite restaurant was delicious - though as others have mentioned, service could be a little slow. The Sunday BBQ was a fun activity with tasty food options and live music. We especially enjoyed all the wildlife Nevis had to offer - you'll see goats, donkeys, cows, monkeys and giant crabs all over the place!
