The WHITE DOVE BED and BREAKFAST/Newark Showground

Complete waste of £144 for a one night stay, to summarise... Initial impressions on arrival = DUMP, there were several bags bursting with rubbish literally dumped in full view in the parking area. Owner should not be making unwelcome comments about our children... NOT ALL DISABILITIES ARE VISIBLE. Mouldy tent = advertised as "GLAMPING"? Health & Safety HAZARD = the sheer amount of extension leads supplying further extension leads. Actual B&B building (where you are expected to use bath/shower facilities) STUNK of cigarettes. Toilet facilities were in an old RICKETY caravan advertised as a "LOG CABIN"? Our two young children (and us!) were fast asleep when we were 'treated' to a visit from the owner's BARKING AND GROWLING DOGS directly outside the door of our tent at 11PM?! Lovely. Owner had the audacity to HASSLE us online on the day of departure for the 'missing' payment that we'd already made... a payment in hindsight we should not have made for the 'service' we received.

This place is poor... the owners attitude is pretty disgusting for someone that claims to have worked in hospitality for a while. We stayed in a mouldy green bell tent, with a bed that was held up on bricks. There should have been a double bed and 2 singles, what we got was a rickety double, a small camp bed and a child's mattress and the previous occupants dirty knickers under the camp bed. The towels and dressing gowns were musty. The floor of the tent is so uneven, you can barely walk through. The decking was rotten and managed to put my foot through it where i was told 'I've put a rug over it' 🤦🏼‍♀️ the electric kept tripping, the kitchen had no utensils or plates, the outside lights weren't put on, had to clamber behind the hot tub to turn them on... where I found the plates to the kitchen... these lights light up toilet, Where you can't sit down cuz your knees knock the door open. Ground uneven, rubbish bags in hedgerow, bbq full of crap from previous guests. No pond as per the pictures, just a hole full of broken garden ornaments and branches. Close to newark showground, where you can here everything until late into the night.... then early morning. In fact, the pigs were a delight!!!! Messaged the owner via Air bnb and got a stand off response.... listen to your customers hun.... they pay your wages. She told us she'd give is a refund. She refunded for 1 night. I couldve paid less and done better glamping in my own trailer tent!!!! Don't waste your money.....£170 a night... absoloute rip off.

Won't be coming back. We hired the family room for one night, which looked fantastic at first glance. The modern pillar tap was loose, meaning that you had to hold the tap steady with one hand to use it. Flushing the toilet showed there to be an issue with the drains, but this was highlighted when using the shower on the morning of our departure caused the drain to become overwhelmed and to flood on to the marble floor in the bathroom, dressing room and through to the bedroom. When wet, this flooring became potentially lethal and my wife nearly ended up slipping over. The moderately sized garden was filled with somewhat duff -looking bell tents, gazebos, chemical toilets, etc - all part of the host's "Glamping". It made it seem like the house was in the middle of a refugee camp. 3 of the 4 windows in our room were frosted for our privacy from the bell tents - the 4th overlooked a picnic table outside, presumably put there for the "glampers". Breakfast was ok, but you looked out of a big picture window as you eat your food - the view consisted of a walled in section of garden complete with a nearby chemical toilet. You could watch total strangers going for their morning dump as you eat your eggs and bacon. When I pointed out our problems in my review with ***********, the owner responded with the usual "why didn't you say anything at the time" (we only stayed one night, and the floor flooded on the morning of our departure.) She also seemed to suggest that we may have caused the toilet blockage (we didn't - other reviewers who stayed there days before us also said that the toilets were slow to drain.) She thought that we hadn't realized that she did Glamping. We did, but had no idea that so many tents, gazebos and toilets would be crammed into such a small garden, with tents being just outside our bedroom window. I wouldn't like camping in someone's back garden, and especially not if I had to share it with half a dozen other tents. In summary - Nice looking room, ok breakfast. Gardens full of dodgy tents, gazebos and chemical toilets, so no views. Drains questionable. Parking is tight.

I was very disapointed with The White Dove B&B. The car park was a complete mess with a smelly smouldering rubbish fire at one end of the quite small parking area. Access was extremely difficult due to the owners car partly blocking the entrance. When I returned after dark there was no outside lighting whatsoever to show the way from the parking area to the B&B entarnce. Extremely treacherous. Despite a strict no smoking rule I was sure I could detect the smell of stale cigarette smoke ingrained in the building and bedroom. Beware, the bedroom floor is smooth shiny tiles and slippery if wet. There was absolutely no floor covering so it was very cold to walk on. Not even complimentary disposable slippers. Also stated that there is a nathrobe, there isn't. Although the toilet flushed well the result did not flow away for several minutes and left much "residue" in the bowl. Glad I don't have to clean it! Hand basin tap was loose and very wobbly. Hot water was at best just warm. The garden view is a joke. Very scruffy and full of derilict yurts or tents. The bed was uncomfortable and quite lumpy, the pillows being thin and appeared to be quite old. Television did not work on most channels. While there is air conditioning in the bedroom there is no heating. I was supplied with a small oil filled electric radiator which just about coped. This was mid October, not even winter! On the plus side the WiFi was good and the breakfast was fine The host was pleasant and friendly. However until these points are addressed I can only recommend that this B&B be avoided. Not worth anything like the £100 cost per night.
