The cabin inside was excellent with the exception of the toilet flushes being extremely hard to use and needed adjusting The outside space left a lot to be desired The table and chairs we're covered in bird poo and should have been jet washed before arriving The Cabin facia was filthy again needed cleaning broken broom on the decking rotted spindles around the decking broken gate catch to hot tub Broken hot tub facia left on decking would have thought the guys who maintained the tub would and should have reported it Shame it was out first visit the outside space needs some serious maintenance undertaken remembering its not cheap Think we'll stay with Darwin forest in future

Very dated , shabby and cleanliness leaves a lot to be desired!! one bathroom for 6 people. Tiny hot tub (albeit that was clean) no outdoor space. Most definitely NOT a luxury stay. Expected lovely views being in a forest. Nope!! All in all this place needs a major refurbishment. Could not wait to get home.

When we first decided to book a stay at Sherwood, we were a little hesitant. We had come across a few negative reviews online, and while we know that sometimes a disgruntled few can color the whole picture, it still left us wondering if we'd made the right choice. However, after our recent 4-night stay, we can confidently say that the experience far exceeded our expectations—and here’s why. The Lodge: Comfort, Cleanliness, and a Great Location We stayed in the Silver Birch lodge, which was absolutely perfect for our needs. The lodge was immaculately clean, well-equipped, and comfortable—everything we needed for a relaxing getaway. The homey touches and spacious interior made it feel like a real retreat from the daily grind. Yes, there was some ongoing work being done by the National Grid in the area, but honestly, the disruption was minimal. We were given a small refund as a gesture of goodwill, which we hadn’t even asked for, showing that the management genuinely cares about the guest experience. It was a nice surprise and reflected the thoughtful customer service we received throughout our stay. Relaxing Nights Under the Stars One of the standout moments of our trip was spending time in the hot tub. There’s something magical about sitting in warm water under the clear night sky, watching the stars, and catching glimpses of multiple Starlink satellites passing overhead. It was a perfect, peaceful way to wind down after a day of exploring. Welcoming Hosts and Helpful Staff From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed. Angela, the host, greeted us warmly and made sure we had everything we needed to settle in. Later during our stay, she even stopped by to check in and ensure everything was going smoothly. It’s these little touches that really made a difference and showed the genuine care the team has for their guests. Exploring Sherwood Pine Forest and Beyond The location of the lodge couldn’t have been better. Just a short walk from the Sherwood Pine forest, we were able to enjoy some beautiful woodland walks right from our doorstep. The forest is a real gem, offering peaceful trails and a lovely natural atmosphere. Whether you're an avid hiker or just looking for a quiet stroll, it’s the perfect spot. Sherwood also offers plenty of activities to keep everyone entertained. There’s something for everyone, from mountain biking trails to the adventurous Go Ape course (though we skipped that one, given our age). If you're an outdoor enthusiast, you’ll definitely find something to suit your interests. Day Trips: Rufford and Clumber Park If you're looking for some scenic day trips, we highly recommend visiting Rufford Abbey and Clumber Park. Both are just a short drive away and offer beautiful parks to explore. We spent a lovely afternoon at Rufford Abbey, wandering around the gardens, and Clumber Park was a wonderful place for a longer walk to take in the countryside views. Been a few times to these holiday retreats but I don’t think we will be coming back to the Sherwood forest one, based on how rude the manager Misha is. Also, the entertainment package is absolutely rubbish now - don’t expect any up to date films like it advertises online (or for the tv to actually work), but they pretty much have you on this one, as you still have to pay £42 to watch your own Netflix's or Amazon Prime. In all the places I have stayed, I have never had to pay to stream my own entertainment. Feel really rip off as you would think for over £800 for a short weekend away, tv would be included in this price.

We were greeted immediately with smiles and a warm welcome. The cabin was warm, clean and exceptionally well presented. With everything you could want. A wonderful hottub to soak in over the 4 days we were there. Friends birthday so we were pleased to find you can have takeout food too. Shop and restaurant are great. I can't wait to return.

First time we have been on a Forest Holiday, and had a lovely time away. Booked a 5 night stay a Golden Oak Lodge (Number 29) which was a one bedroom property. Check in was a smooth process and the location was very picturesque. Our lodge was clean and tidy, with all the equipment we needed. Underfloor heating and the log burner was a really nice touch. We made full use of the Hot Tub, however was disappointed that it didn't heat up very well and was only just warm on our last day which was a shame. You do get dressing gowns to use, but would be really good if they provided some basic slippers. Bathroom was really nice and bedroom was also comfortable. If we could make a change, we would have liked the bed pillows to be a little firmer as we didn't always get the best nights sleep. However, this is personal preference. We made the most out of our self catering facilities, as the Retreat was a little expensive. We only went for a coffee one afternoon, but was a little disappointed that a lot of the tables were not cleared and were dirty. There were quite a lot of staff at the main desk, so it would have made a better experience if they were perhaps a little more attentive. Overall we were really happy with our holiday and would have definitely given it five stars if the hot tub was fully functioning, and if the Holiday Extras were not as expensive
