Bella Vista Motel New Plymouth

I literally fled my house - which is being renovated - in order to get some peace and quiet on my days off midweek. Jim and Rachel bent over backwards, so to speak, to accommodate this unusual situation. The motel is quiet. They made sure I was not disturbed until lunch time. I had a great conversation with Jim one evening, just what I needed, after a particularly difficult day. Their compendium is very illuminating - not so much as in what there is to do around New Plymouth, as they wisely direct you to the nearby I-site and anyway, I'm a local, but in what it tells you about them, and their motel. They support various community projects with some of the profits, and they ask for very little things to help them do that - one I recall is wine bottle tops and soft drink tin tabs, which they collect for the dialysis service at New Zealand's children's hospital. While recycling does not net much money, a single motel could collect quite a lot of tabs and lids for that cause, and every little bit adds up. It's a very well written compendium, one of the best I have read, as much about the motel and its owners, as it is about the nearby restaurants and cafes. (Like Jim, I would also recommend the Vogeltown Fish Shop, while it does NOT look great from the outside, do not be deceived by appearances!) The bed was very comfortable, the room very clean, and they are the only motel I have stayed in for a while that prefers you NOT to wash your dishes. After all, the guests might not wash them properly, even if they do their best! Other places I have stayed at threaten guests with a $20 daily charge if the staff end up doing them. So that was good too. Everything they ask you to do to help them - e.g. lining up recycling beside the rubbish bin, or using towels two days in a row, if possible, is asked with great courtesy, and they explain why it helps them, in order to help you. I would definitely stay there again, and recommend them.

The room was clean and had a great shower, the staff were very friendly and accommodating. When we had a question about anything they knew where to send us. We will be back as it is close to the CBD and to family. We had very good weather all the time we were there.

Bella Vista is a very accommodating motel and we will definitely look to visit again. The hosts are friendly and approachable. They let us know that it was the last night of the light festival, which we hadn't realised, and we had a lovely night at the park. Our room was very clean and not cramped. We enjoyed the option of fresh milk rather than UHT for tea/coffee/hot chocolate. To top it off the TV had full Sky coverage, which was great while laying in the very comfortable bed. Overall it was the best motel experience that we've had in NZ.

Absolutely fabulous accommodation. Very handy to the central city area, with its abundance of fine dining restaurants and eateries. Quick and easy checkin with the very helpful, courteous manager. He was very helpful and eagerly regaled me with what was happening in New Plymouth during my stay. The room was well appointed, a comfy bed made for a decent sleep Multitude of satellite tv channels available. Awesome

We have stayed here before and every time its great. Perfectly positioned next to the Len Lye Art center and restaurants just over the road. Clean with everything you need. Can recommend the Snug Lounge for dinner. there is also a great coffee cafe under the King and Queen complex over the road. Bets Ruben sandwich I have ever had.

Our 1 bdrm unit gave us plenty of room, and was equiped with everything needed for our comfort. Our host was friendly and helpful. The location right in the heart of New Plymouth was quiet at night, and perfect for walking to areas of interest.
