I stayed at the Hotel Decebal for five nights in August 2023 with my husband and two boys. We had double rooms 101 and 102. The rooms were spacious enough and equipped with a TV, fridge, A/C and free Wi-Fi. The furniture was functional. There was a balcony as well with some chairs, a table, and a clothes line. The swimming pool is rather small and was crowded most of the time. The walk to the beach takes about five minutes and is rather pleasant as it is through a nice park. However, the beach itself isn’t that nice and was very crowded. Breakfast was buffet style and was quite good. I especially liked the nice selection of local cheeses. It is impossible to comment on the staff in general. Housekeeping was just terrible. Never before have I experienced anything like it! Our two rooms were the first on the housekeeping ladies’ schedule and they absolutely refused to deviate from that. It was room 101 at 9:30 a.m. or not at all. On the day after our arrival we didn’t know this so asked them to come back half an hour later when they knocked. They didn’t, of course. We put this down to them not understanding as they didn’t speak any English. Next day, they cleaned the bathrooms. Not sure they did any cleaning in the rooms themselves, though they certainly didn’t make the beds. They also gave us fresh towels and additional soap. No toilet paper, though, even though we were on our last roll. The day after that, the only thing they did was bring us new toilet paper. They placed the roll on our used towels, even though the roll on the loo roll holder was empty. I had left it there to emphasise the fact that we had run out. On our last day there, we were a few minutes late leaving our room. We asked the ladies to come back in five minutes when they knocked. They were in room 103 when we left. They saw us leaving! They did not come back to our room! The situation was not much better regarding our boys’ room, though they did get more soap and toilet paper than we did, for some reason. The ladies at reception were friendly, though, and the hard-working young staff members in the restaurant were extremely nice and helpful. All of them spoke good English. Just before we were going to leave and drive back to Bucharest, we discovered that we had a flat tyre. The rental company was completely useless, just telling us to have it repaired. The reception lady and guys from the restaurant organised everything for us, called a garage and had them send someone to fix the tyre. They were brilliant! I am pretty sure we won’t be returning to Neptun. However, this is a decent hotel. Just don’t expect too much regarding loo paper or fresh towels.
