Hotel Grotta

After a wonderful 10-day stay at Hotel Grotta in 2024, we booked a 14-night sea-view room for 2025, a full 14 months in advance. To be flexible, we even provided three different room options. Despite our careful planning, the hotel cancelled our reservation just hours before our scheduled arrival. This left us scrambling to find expensive, last-minute alternatives, causing significant stress and wasting valuable vacation time. What makes this situation unacceptable is that the hotel had multiple opportunities to prevent it. They confirmed our booking as "guaranteed" six weeks prior to our arrival. Just three days before our stay, they confirmed it again when we arranged our airport shuttle. Why wait until the last minute to inform us of a critical error? When we asked why our reservation—made over a year ago—was cancelled instead of one from a guest who likely booked after us, they refused to answer. This lack of transparency felt deeply disrespectful, especially as my partner’s family has been loyal guests for decades. To add insult to injury, the hotel invited us to book with them again in the future. We will not be returning. We are writing this review to caution others. A hotel of this reputation should not handle bookings so poorly, leaving loyal guests unprotected and unsupported at the most critical moment. We learned the hard way that a reservation here is not truly guaranteed.

We stayed at Hotel Grotta in Naxos Town in July 2025, which was truly one of the highlights of our trip to Greece. The staff were incredibly kind and welcoming, always ready to help with a smile and great local tips. The view from the hotel is simply stunning—you can see the deep blue of the Aegean Sea and the majestic Temple of Apollo from the terrace and many of the rooms. Watching the sunset over the temple each evening was a magical experience. The hotel is modern, spotless, and very comfortable. Breakfast was fresh, delicious, and generous, with local ingredients and plenty of variety. The team puts great care into every detail. Just a short walk from the center of Naxos Town, Hotel Grotta offers the perfect mix of convenience and peaceful retreat. We left feeling relaxed, refreshed, and already planning our return.

The most gourmet breakfast experience ever! The hotel is situated a bit away from the hubbub of town but the views are great. The best thing is the sumptuous gourmet breakfast - just like a page out of a gourmet magazine.

The staff at Hotel Grotta are outstanding! The level of service is top tier. They truly treated us like honored guest and went out of their way to make our stay amazing. If I could give them SIX stars, I would. The breakfasts are, as other guests have noted, spectacular!! We were stunned at the variety of home made dishes that were available every day, ALL delicious. Special thanks to both Eino and Constandina (not sure on either spelling) for patiently helping us and answering all of our questions as we made our plan to explore Naxos!! You were both the pinnacle of customer service! Finally, the rooms were fantastic and immaculately clean. Request an ocean view room for a spectacular view of the Aegean. If you are going to Naxos, you cannot go wrong with Hotel Grotta.

We were here in June 2024 and loved it so much we returned in June 2025. This time, we reserved rooms with a sea view and it was spectacular. Mama's breakfast was delicious and filling, as always. The service was phenomenal, including arranging for a taxi to shuttle us to and from a very special anniversary dinner in Agia Anna. Dimitrios helped us out with the airport and ferries, and we cannot wait to stay here again sometime soon. The best thing for us is the convenience to the Chora and all the sights, food, and sounds.

Fantastic hotel - only 10-15 minute walk to town where restaurants/bars situated. Our second visit - great location - fantastic breakfast - pick up/drop off service to port. Hotel very clean - spotless. Cannot fault anything with amazing reception staff. Strongly recommend this hotel.
