The Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island

Our stay at the Ritz on Amelia Island was truly amazing. Property was stunning. Staff were friendly and very very attentive. The cabanas were worth the money as pool gets very busy. Rooms very spacious and very clean. Spa was beautiful. Beach was spotless. My cons- we were a party of 11 and the restaurants for dinner makes you go off a pre-fixed menu. Which didn’t work for us as we had very different tastes and some allergies to contend with. So unfortunately we didn’t get to have dinner on property. Second was that everything closes so early (shops, coffee shop, restaurants). I would definitely return.

As a Marriott Titanium Elite member, I’ve stayed at countless properties around the world, but the The Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island 4750 Amelia Island Parkway, hotel truly stood out in the best possible way. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warm smiles and genuine hospitality. The staff here is on another level – friendly, attentive, and proactive. They didn’t just meet expectations; they anticipated needs. The manager even came by personally to ensure everything was going smoothly with my stay. That kind of attention to detail is rare and deeply appreciated. The room was immaculate and clearly newly renovated. Everything felt fresh, modern, and thoughtfully designed. All amenities were in perfect working order – from the silent, powerful air conditioning to the well-stocked mini-fridge and fast, reliable Wi-Fi. The bedding was incredibly soft and luxurious, making for one of the best nights of sleep I’ve had in a hotel. The room was also impressively quiet – I couldn’t hear a sound from the hallway or neighboring rooms. I highly recommend this hotel for both business and leisure travelers. Whether you’re an elite member or not, you’ll feel genuinely valued here. I’ll absolutely be returning on my next visit. Dr. Jeffery Q. Durrah

We had our family photos taken down by the water by Caleb and they turned out beautifully! The hotel made booking the session easy and meeting up with Caleb was he's using. Caleb was a real pro with our two kids aged 8 and 6. He was efficient and quick and produced some beautiful pics of us that we will enjoy for years! I highly recommend this service at the hotel! Man, this place has every thing figured out. Never been treated better at a hotel anywhere in the world. Every single employee there always has a smile in their face and goes above and beyond to do anything for you while you are a guest. Special shout out to the pool bar servers?

This was my second stay at this property. I had a poor stay a few years ago but figured I'd give them another chance. Bad idea. Basically all of the same disappointments as last time, plus a few more. I do not plan on returning as an individual guest, it's clear the property's real customers are conference organizers. Many of the staff try, but it's clear they are just stretched too thin and haven't been trained on getting the details right. Other than the nice beach, there are simply better properties to visit, with better service, at a much more reasonable cost. Just some of the issues I have with this place: 1) Check in was super rushed. I had to ask questions about the property that should have been proactively explained (e.g., restaurant options). In fact, it wasn't until the last day of my stay when the concierge was finally at the desk (was usually unstaffed), that I found there was an actual schedule of events. Actually, I didn't even know until seeing in another guest's review below that there were smores on the property - would've loved to do that with my son. Similarly, I learned from another guest about that the property has Mercedes that you can borrow for a few hours (I've done this at other properties like Four Seasons and Auberge) - of course, no info about this at check in. How are guests supposed to know about your hotel if you don't tell them!? Small things like this can make the difference between a good and bad stay. 2) I asked and found that the property has a policy where young children dine for free (again, no one offered this info up to me). I happened to eat every meal during my stay at several of the restaurants on the premises. Unfortunately, about 75% of the time I had to ask them to remove my son's meal from the check, even after confirming each time we sat down. It made me feel cheap and I shouldn't have had to ask. They should also have told me about this proactively at check-in or otherwise. 3) The pool was an absolute madhouse. They've crammed so many chairs into that area that it is actually uncomfortable. I've never seen a luxury hotel have anything other than full-flat loungers at a pool. However, at the RC Amelia Island, the first row of seats next to the pool are regular upright chairs that do not lay flat. One of the staff told me they did this to fit in more chairs. 4) F&B service at the pool was sometimes incredibly slow. I learned to just ask them to bring me my check at the same time as my food or drink, however, one time they just never brought the check. After waiting over an hour, I told another server and left. Imagine my surprise at checkout when I found that someone had added a 20% gratuity to the check. 5) I was alone with my very young son. At check in, I inquired about purchase club access and was quoted $600/night. For one adult, that was outrageous and in fact more than the difference if one just bought a club room to begin with. In fact, it was the same price they'd charge for two adult

First, I'd like to thank whoever is doing the staff training at this resort, because the service and hospitality was exceptional across the board, from valet and pool set ups to front desk, housekeeping, you name it. Better guest relations than Disney. I'd also like to thank every staff member who made our trip feel special. We used points, so the rack rate is high, yes, but it's really a phenomenal property. Beautifuly landscaping, great food, awesome pool, incredible dunes, and phenomenal beach access. All you can ask for. We ate everywhere--Coquina, Coast, Salt, the coffee shop, got pizza from Tidewater. All terrific. Spendy? Yes. But for resort life, hard to beat great food without getting in the car. Overall, this was an exceptional, 5-star stay. The staff went above and beyond to make my wife's birthday trip super special, including free champagne and desserts on our first night. They really do hospitality well here. We'll definitely be back...on points. We aren't quite rich enoug for the 1000/night rack rates, but I get it. It's a beautiful and fantastically run property.
