This place is amazing. It's luxury upon luxury. It has everything you need right at your doorstep, if you're not worried about exploring the island you can stay here your entire trip and be thoroughly satisfied. It has its own beach that is sheltered from swell so it's nice and calm. Perfect for kids and snorkelers alike! The restaurants they have are all 5 star and the food is amazing. Highly recommend this resort!

Who was travelling? Family, 4 adults How long was our stay? 10 days We had an excellent experience in the Royal Blue Resort in September 2024!!! More Details: Rooms: We stayed the first days for full relaxation in the Azure Blue Residence and it was amazing. Two bed rooms with ensuite bath room, living room, separate bathroom, kitchenette, living and dining room, own private pool, own parking lot. Space, space, space; privacy, privacy, privacy - believe me, we all loved it. Afterwards we moved to the Superior Suites Sea View to be as close as possible to the sea. What should I say other than: another excellent experience I can only recommend as well! Service Staff: If anybody asks where to find super friendly, real and authentic hospitality in Crete, my clear answer is: visit The Royal Blue Resort. Thank you very much to each and every single one on the team, it was a pleasure to stay with you. Food: Excellent, nothing more to be added. Beach: Sandy beach in artificial bay, enabling swimming independently from the tides. We loved it! Gym: well equiped, clean, air conditioned - nice experience SPA: Variety of services, I chose a relaxing massage - amazing experience Summary: We can highly recommend a stay at The Royal Blue Resort in Crete. TRY IT!

We had a wonderful holiday at the Royal Blue Hotel and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing and enjoyable getaway. Our experience was truly amazing — everything is thoughtfully designed so you can simply unwind and enjoy every moment: • Comfortable rooms that instantly make you feel at home • A delicious buffet with high-quality food for both breakfast and dinner • Multiple swimming pools and direct access to the sea • A wide variety of bars and restaurants on-site What stood out the most was the kindness and helpfulness of the entire staff — they really made us feel welcome. The Greek night was a highlight of our stay — we had a fantastic time enjoying the music and dancers. The hotel is also well located in Crete, with several points of interest just a short drive away. A big thank you to the whole team for their warmth and hospitality!

Disappointing Stay – Not 5-Star Standard We stayed at The Royal Blue Hotel in Crete for 9 nights in June in a Superior Double Room with Sea View. Unfortunately, our experience did not live up to expectations. Despite booking a sea view room, the view was barely visible from our room. The biggest letdown was the poor housekeeping – if we were in the room past 9:30am, it wasn’t cleaned until late afternoon. Even then, the sheets were never changed and the floor was not cleaned once during our stay. We also had ants outside our door and were bitten by mosquitos. Although we requested a refill for the in-room mosquito plug-ins via the hotel app, it was never done. The location of the hotel is nice and quiet, but be prepared to spend a lot on-site. Drinks are very expensive (we paid €28 for two drinks, and €5 for a small bottle of water). There are no water refill stations, which was frustrating in the heat. The spa was pleasant but also overpriced. We went half board – breakfast was enjoyable, but dinner was repetitive and average in quality. There isn’t much around the area, and taxis to nearby towns were costly. We also had a late flight and asked to extend our room for a few hours (offering to pay extra), but were refused. We had to use the communal showers, which were dirty and had broken door locks. Overall, we were very disappointed. This hotel does not meet the standards of a 5-star resort, and we would not recommend it to others. Sadly, we won’t be returning.

We stayed here for 11 nights and we were very impressed from the start with the check in process. We were given a glass of Prosecco a refreshing towel and a chocolate. The staff and the grounds of the hotel are immaculate and there is obvious pride in the maintenance of the hotel. The food choices are amazing, all tastes are provided for. Some of the food could be hotter but difficult to maintain this when you are providing hundreds of meals each day. We would recommend this hotel, we had a car at our disposal, some people may find it a bit isolating as Rethymno is a 20 minute drive away. The closest town is Paranormos which is pretty and has a good selection of shops and restaurants. There is a “magic train” for those without transport.

Hotel was lovely. Staff fantastic nothing was too much trouble. It was our wedding anniversary while we were there and they brought us a cake and wine to our room to celebrate. There were always sunbeds at the pools. The cocktails were very good. Our holiday was so relaxing.

We had a wonderful stay at the Royal Bleue hotel. Very confortable room with its private pool and terrace. Great variety of food. Fantastic diners and breakfest. Great commitment of the employées always devoted. We warmly recommend this hotel.

Good, but could easily be better. Staff and food were excellent. Would be great if they put all the couples with screaming babies in a different room for eating as the noise was anything but relaxing during breakfast and dinner. The hotel is in a lovely setting, but some way from Rethymno or any village. Great supermarket/souvenir shop just up the road. Our room wasn’t cleaned one day, the iron didn’t work and the kettle didn’t work. Iron and kettle were replaced though, so not a massive problem, but in a 5* hotel should they not have been working in the first place? The pools are great and one is adult only. Our room was near the main road, so check before booking as it gets quite busy. The so called tennis courts - one had no net and was set up for basketball, the other was tired and had a drain cover missing on court, so both unplayable, definitely not as the website description.

Staff couldn’t do enough for you, friendly and welcoming. Rooms good size we had a superior sea view room with balcony overlooking swimming pool. Breakfast and evening meal buffet style were exceptional, with so much choice. In fact no real need to dine in other restaurants as buffet was so good and varied. Very large saltwater family swimming pool with lots of sun beds overlooking the hotels private beach/harbour, there was also an adults only pool along with many others dotted around the hotels. Restaurant at the pool served lunch if needed after the buffet breakfast. Waitress walking around taking orders for drinks and offering complementary fresh fruit and aperitifs to taste. Musicians playing most evenings. There is a small store on site for essentials and there is a small local supermarket close by with a good selection of wines and beers. There is also a small paddling pool for children although in our opinion the hotel does not offer a lot of activities for the young ones. The sister hotel over the road seems more child friendly with a small water park with a number of slides and water play area. We found the shuttle bus service to and from the airport to long as The Royal Blue Resort is almost the last drop off and on way back to airport one of the first our journey time was 3.25 hours, possibly consider as we will on our next visit take a private taxi or car hire for the trip as a car is useful for sight seeing, the trip in your own car from hotel to Chania is approximately 1.25 hours, a visit to the Old Town is well worth it
