Marias Platzl

Quaint yet contemporary, Marias Platzl is located in a family-oriented neighbourhood a couple of blocks from the Isar river and an easy 20-25 minute walk to Marienplatz. 10 minute walk up to the Rosenheimer Platz station for easy train access I had a very clean and quiet room on third floor at the rear of the building and slept well each night. Quality bedding and good shower get good marks from me. Staff were very accommodating, and the room had everything that I needed for a self-sufficient traveler that doesn't rely on hotel staff for much. In late November, it was nice to see a small, but vibrant weekday neighbourhood market in the church square across the street. I'll stay here again.

If you want a truly Bavarian cultural experience then look no further. It's absolutely beautiful, it is clean has a gorgeous bar and a wonderful beer garden. The staff are all helpful and lovely but I especially got on with a young lady called Sophie. An intelligent and nice young lady who was always welcoming and had my coffee ready 🙂 The breakfast is definitely worth the extra money. It's all you can eat and they have a wide array of tasty dishes across the board. Weisswurst sausages with a traditional Bavarian mustard sauce. Crispy bacon and scrambled egg, lots of choices of other cold meats. Freshly baked bread of all kinds and pretzels too. There were various other things for people with a sweet tooth and vegetarians too. My room was always clean, tidy and secure with the key card system they have there which is also very efficient when coming back from a trip in or around the wonderful city of Munich. It's only around a twenty minute walk to the city centre but there's plenty of public transport if you don't like walking (I do) I believe for what you get it is reasonably priced. The best hotel I've stayed in at home or abroad will definitely be back when I am back in Munich.

We were so pleased to have booked a hotel outside of the main centre but within easy 20 mins walk. It's a boutique hotel, original room decor and a very good traditional restaurant set in a quiet garden ( great beer too)- we found it hard to eat elsewhere! But above all the service was outstanding. Nothing too much trouble and genuinely a pleasure to be looked after by such nice people. Thank you.

Hotel is very well situated about 15 min walk to the town centre. Excellent check in and check out process and staff very friendly. Room was nice, however was very small and difficult to spend time for two people in as the bed is very compact in the alcove and was needed to sit on as the bench has the bed half in front if it. There is no air conditioning and the fan is very noisy to have on all night. This was needed as we were on the roadside and traffic is noisy.

I had a terrible experience at this hotel. Peter, the receptionist, was not only rude and extremely impolite, but he was almost aggressive. He seemed very upset because I arrived a few minutes after 8pm. Although I explained to him that my flight was more than 2 hours late, he continued to be rude and aggressive. It was weird not to feel safe at a hotel in Germany. Also, his repeated attempts to charge my credit card (with different amounts) were interpreted by my back as a fraudulent attempt, so the bank blocked my card. I am surprised that such a person works in a hotel where his job implies dealing with customers and, I hope, offering a good service.

We flew into Munich en route to a walking holiday in Austria and decided to spend a few days in Munich on the way home. I had forgotten about Euro 2024 so my choice of "affordable" hotels was limited and I chose Marias Platzl because it was available. What a pleasant surprise it was. Our Queen room was a little small but attractively furnished, excellent shower and toilet, good TV and free wifi. The breakfast was excellent and the staff really friendly and helpful. Best of all it was in a quiet residential area but with a bus even 5 minutes to central Munich. Great stopover for us.
