Links Hotel

We have visited Montrose for decades but always stayed in a private house in Ferryden , but that's no longer an option. We were not disappointed with our stay at the Links Hotel. Room was clean and comfy. Nice selection of teas and coffees , beautiful big white fluffy bath sheets. Breakfast was outstanding, buffet on the weekend and cooked to order today, it was huge we couldn't finish it all. The staff are all so chatty and friendly. Couple of negatives, the room was very hot, we were given a fan which helped and I couldn't get the shower hot, but I told them at the time. Top tip. If you have limited mobility please advise them, our room was the furthest away with quite a few stairs, which was a bit of an effort for my old Mum but not a deal breaker! Next time we will just ask to be put in a room with less of a walk.

The Links Hotel has a touch of classic grandeur about it, with its ornate staircase and stained glass windows. The room was clean and comfortable, with a balcony and view over the park. The staff were extremely friendly and the food was exceptional. It's definitely on our list for a return visit.

We went to lay my Nan to rest and scatter her ashes where she was born and my partner randomly chose this hotel and it was one of the best decisions he made. Beautiful grand entrance, incredible large room, whirl pool bath, huge comfy bed and the breakfast was one of the BEST we have had cooked to order. Amazing runny poached eggs, thick bacon, tasty black pudding, large piece of haggis, lovely big cup of coffee and great service. Totally recommend this hotel for any stay and allows dogs 🐕 too.

We booked late and stayed only one night. The receptionist was friendly and allocated us our room. We were pleasantly surprised with our room which had nice furnishings and was a good size. After that it all went downhill. We went down to the bar and asked if they did any cocktails to which the answer was an abrupt no. We asked if there was any aperol, again an abrupt no. We had booked a table for dinner and again this was a mistake, the menu was small and although there was a special’s board it was all very uninspiring and poor quality. Our nice room was probably the noisiest room, we couldn’t sleep because of conversations going on outside our room and from the car park below. Breakfast was interesting, orange juice tasted like watered down squash, a luke warm buffet with empty dishes which were slow to be replaced. The paint is peeling off the beams in the conservatory and the whole dining area needs revamped and the poor chef needs a bigger budget.

Stayed there for work for a week and didn't feel comfortable there was just no vibe from the place seems very dull and boring rooms for a 4star hotel seemed very below par. Food i must say apart from the steak pie which looked like a dogs dinner was lovey the surf and turf and the steak were awesome but i cant see me wanting to go back if u want a bit off a vibe and feel welcome go to the 3star park hotel which is a stone throw away much much better staff so friendly and definitely go the extra mile for u

I was taken away for a night. Arrived at reception, checked in, the lady was pleasant enough, however, having been in the role myself, felt she could have been more personable. Not a complaint though, as I say, pleasant enough. Went to our room which was huge and spacious. Was clean and we presented. Yes the bath panel was a bit worn, but water will do that. I would suggest bigger shower screens as I am tall and caused some water to splash over it. The bed was so hard that I have been in pain since I left. The sleep for both of us was interrupted with discomfort. I appreciate this is personal choice though, just wasn’t for us. We could have considered a change of room however, this would have been inconvenient as it was through the night. In the morning, breakfast was delicious. Good options available. Gluten free also available upon request. Staff were lovely and attentive. I was in the shower listening to music on my speaker when the housekeeping team knocked on the door. Wrapped in a towel, I answered and was asked to turn the music down. I appreciate some may find this reasonable, however, as a DEAF person, I found this to be quite an intrusion. My volume was at a level I could hear, not loud to me, I am always conscious of others as best as I can be. She remained at the door, making me feel quite uncomfortable as I was wrapped in a towel and continued to look at me. I know she was doing her job, however, I would have appreciated being asked if there was a reason for the volume being what it was before being asked to turn it down. This is just personal to me, and I understand not everyone is aware or even considers others disabilities. Perhaps something to consider in future as a learning experience to her. Overall, the stay was average, would have scored more if I the bed hadn’t been so hard.
