Good hotel, great restaurant and the overall service and organisation was excellent. The organisational staff and reception were excellent and the staff, food and service were excellent too. The courses were of course suffering after the extremely dry summer but were good enough

under „fgrandjean“ you find an evaluation from August 2022 which you did not comment. we do hundred percent agree to all his negative remarks especially the danger using your bath tube for showering. on top the menu of the restaurant is VERY limited, for people like us staying several days a serious challenge. steak contained of 40% fat and gristle and calling a dish „risotto conquistelles“ is the same as you call a dish „spaghetti carbonara“ but made with spinach and tuna instead of guanciale and eggs. risotti is made ONLY from (italian) rice and NEVER from pasta.

We are writing to report some of the experiences we had during our stay at the Domaine du Gouverneur Hotel, located in Chateau du breuil, F-01390 Monthieux, France, hotel@domainedugouverneur.fr during our three night stay, from arrival at about 4 pm on Sunday, 31 July 2022 and departing at about 11 am on Wednesday, 3 August 2022. The cost of our room including breakfast was Euros 762 + 19.80 tax for the stay or Euros 254 + 6.60 tax per night or US$ 258.52 + 6.66 tax per night at the exchange rate on 4 August 2022. Of course at this rather high-price one might expect a pleasant smooth visit, which sadly is only partly the case. Nicely, the staff was friendly and helpful especially in the restaurant. So first what went WELL during our visit? Upon our arrival we were nicely greeted by a young lady at registration who offered to help with our luggage which she cheerfully did. Our room was fortunately air-conditioned. The wifi did seem to mostly work well. The bathroom did have large towels. On two evenings we dined in the hotel restaurant which was mostly empty. The menu was very limited but we were fortunate to find items that in the end were very good and overall the menu prices were far lower than we expected, especially in view of the hotel room price. The coffee was semi-cold on each of the three mornings. Further, the hotel swimming pool, which we use each day, was well organized and rather pleasant, except for the many pine twigs around the pool, twigs that were never swept away. What did NOT go WELL? Upon reaching room 103 we found ourselves in what is apparently the smallest room in the hotel – yet a superior room. A superior room it was not - even though it was air conditioned. Upon requesting a second and/or a third luggage rack for use in our room we were informed by a fellow at registration that there was ONLY one such rack allowed in each room – not really an expected reply for a presumably up-market hotel to start a visit for a client. The MAJOR problem with this hotel room is the use of the bathtub shower. Because there is absolutely nothing to hold onto during ingress or egress, over the rather high barrier of the bathtub, the bathtub shower is very DANGEROUS, especially for older clients. As a consequence no one over the age or 50 should book a room at this hotel. This really is a very bad experience for the guest. Further, if you are tall and want to keep the floor dry during a shower find a different hotel. There were many more small but unexpected draw backs to room 103 and probably most other rooms. There was no desk but only a small shelf just large enough to hold a laptop computer. Also there was no desk light and the only overhead light made the use of a computer difficult on the eyes. There was only ONE high-chair that could be used with this shelf arrangement. Do not book this room if you need a desk to work on a laptop computer. The missing things that one might expect at US$ 260 a night hotel included

Chambre spacieuse et propre. Personnel aimable et serviable y compris pro shop. Petit déjeuner top avec des produits de qualité. La carte du restaurant est moyenne et les prix sont chers (28 euros pour une pièce du boucher et l on se retrouve avec une bavette…) L entretien des terrains de golf formidable.

Boissons en libre service à la piscine et à l'accueil de l'hôtel. Parfait avec cette chaleur. Personnel très agréable. Golf très très bien entretenu. Practice au top avec l'application. Nous avons vraiment passé un super moment en famille. Le restaurant et le petit déjeuner parfait.

Le domaine est splendide et très bien entretenu. Un belle parenthèse de verdure bien arborée où on s'y sens bien. Le personnel est accueillant très professionnel. Mon conjoint s'est régalé sur le parcours montaplan. Nous avons dormi une nuit, la chambre est grand et pourtant on a pris une classique. La literie rien a redire. C'est propre Les eaux "détox" présentent a l'accueil et à la piscine sont très agréables. Le vue du restau sur le putting green donne un côté hyper reposant. La cuisine est bonne mais un peu cher et "classique". Dommage de ne pas avoir de menu pour le soir. Le personnel du restaurant est au petit soin. Le petit déjeuner top, avec tout ce qu'il faut. Merci pour les attentions dans la chambre pour l'anniversaire de mon conjoint. Nous sommes ravis de ce petit séjour.
