A great place to stay, beds comfortable, cabins clean, spacious and inviting . The whole place is well set out with a football field we had a lot of fun playing football in. The food at the onsite restaurant is delicious, the menu is somewhat limited as would be expected in such a small place but they happily accomodate dour vegetarian requests . The family who live here and run the lodge are friendly and warm and work together as a team to run a great place . The only down side to this place is the very bad roads leading to it, unsealed , potholes etc .. but this is not the lodges fault of course and I believe in Monteverde is common for roads to be like this . Would highly recommend this place to families or couples

A beautiful lodge in a lovely setting run by a wonderfully hospitable family. The accommodation is very nice: comfortable rooms, well built, well appointed and well maintained. The folks running the lodge are all so welcoming and have great insights into local activities that you can do, both with and without local guides. The breakfasts are excellent and the dinners are wonderful as well, with fresh fish straight from the ponds outside the kitchen! Take a cool dip in the small pool that is refilled every day with fresh water from a spring or stream located uphill. We will definitely stay here again next time we are in the area.

The ecolodge is a very special place where you can experience true Tico hospitality in an incredibly serene setting. The multigenerational Mata family cares deeply for their lodge, their land and their guests. They are incredibly friendly and welcoming, and are extremely knowledgable about things to do in Monte Verde. The rooms are beautiful, clean and comfortable. The farm to table food was excellent. The drive from their lodge to Santa Elena takes between 20-30 minutes and is a fun drive on a good gravel road through beautiful mountain passes. This is a very special place, and we hope to come back!

Do Not stay here. The worst travel experience I have ever had in 40 years of traveling. I am an older female and could not locate the property driving. The road is too dangerous to drive. I asked the property if we could agree on a 1 night charge for the unfortunate experience. The property was unwilling to work with me to accomodate this request. There are so many other nicer beautiful properties in Monteverde. Do no consider Rancho de Lelo lodge for your visit. Mary

Wonderful place run by fantastic hosts. Phenomenal food with great fish, vegetables, juices all fresh and locally grown, but most of all the people are so attentive and we will long remember the football match with the hosts. The location is spectacular, close to Monteverde. Thank you!!

My family and I recently had a great stay. The cabins are private, comfortable, and very cozy. Our kids had a blast during our stay! The ecolodge's well-maintained soccer field and gardens were the perfect playground for them to burn off energy and have lots of fun on their own for hours. As parents, we couldn't have asked for a safer and more fun environment for our children to explore and go out on little adventures. From breakfast to dinner the food was so delicious. The location provided us with easy access to Monteverde. After long days out exploring the area it was an absolute joy to return to the comfort and warmth of the ecolodge. And it is run by a great family. Our kids have already said that they can't wait to go back, and we couldn't agree more!

This place is an absolute jewel. We stayed for several days. The cabins are comfortable and cozy. The property is beautiful! It is obvious the family that owns this place has put a tremendous amount of love, thought and hard work into making it special. Breakfasts were delicious everyday! We sadly only got to have dinner on site once but it was fantastic as well. We even fished our tilapia from the pond on the property. We were even randomly treated to homemade fresh donuts and coffee one rainy afternoon! Our hosts were amazingly friendly and helpful. There is an evident abundance of joy from everyone of them that gives the stay a sense of peace. From the owners to the the children and dogs everyone was lovely! It is a bit of a drive if you are planning to visit Santa Elena and Monteverde (30-40min) but staying at Rancho de Lelo was well worth the drive for us.

Such a unique and wonderful experience for my family and I. Joseph, beatrice and their family are warm and welcoming. The grounds are gorgeous and spacious. We feel so lucky for our time at lelo. 5 star food. Best pancakes I’ve ever tasted. My kids were especially delighted with the different shapes (teddy bear and shooting star) of the pancakes! This stay was magical!

Highly recommend Rancho Del Lelo! They treated us very well by always anticipating our needs and going out of their way to assist. The only minor improvement is more instructions on how to run the hot water in the shower.
