Hotel Biondi

Just back from Montecatini. This hotel is a bit tired and I was surprised to find that we couldn't use irons due to the age of the building. They also have 3 pin plugs but small 2 pins work as well. Breakfast was good. My room had a balcony with a lovely view and was serviced daily. Lots of indoor and outdoor seating and drinks were reasonably priced. The staff were very friendly and spoke good English.

Just returned from a wonderful holiday In Montecatini Terme in the heart of Tuscany. Hotel Biondi was a very traditional hotel with good seating areas both inside and out and a smart dining room. Both my bedroom and my friends were perfectly adequate though a little tired looking but it was clean and comfortable and serviced daily. Buffet style breakfast was fairly good and we had 4 course dinner with table service every night and food was very good. The hotel has a covered swimming pool with large seating areas which was a fantastic retreat on a hot day and fairly quiet. Bar prices were very reasonable for a hotel.

Stayed at this hotel and were allocated a twin room 308, which is at the front of the hotel with a balcony and chair. It was a very nice room although a little tired but the aircon worked well. We did have trouble initially finding any UK channels on the tv (BBC News is on 74). The bathroom had a bath with shower tap on the wall. Our cleaner was fantastic, thank you D. The food options were different but varied each day. Reception staff tried to assist with all queries. The swimming pool was brilliant, so lovely and cool. Note that there are a lot of nationalities staying here, so they are trying to cater for all. We ultimately enjoyed staying, but settling the hotel tax and bar bill at the end was not so much fun. Lol.

It was a cute room but the AC didn't work, which made it extremely warm in the room. Additionally, the bathroom door didn't lock and the shower was small and didn't have space inside to hold toiletries.

After reading very negative reviews of this hotel ,we were pleasantly surprised. Yes, the rooms are a little tired around the edges,but exceptionally clean,as was the rest of the hotel. Breakfast was basic but plentiful. Dinner was fine, not haute cuisine. But it's good enough. We found every member of staff to be polite and helpful .

Everything you would expect from an Italian hotel, quaint, old fashioned but had a lovely modern bathroom. Towels changed daily, sheets changed frequently. Breakfast had all the usual dishes you could want and expect. Evening meals were good, the fish dishes were all excellent. Desserts were a little bit of a letdown but otherwise meals were very enjoyable. The indoor pool was absolutely freezing, I only managed to get in as far as my knees- you need a wetsuit to really enjoy it. Sunbathing area was lovely, nice and quiet and peaceful. The hotel biondi is in an excellent position for you to discover other towns and cities. We walked to the main station, it took about 25 minutes and went to Pistoia, it was only 1 stop and took about 12 minutes. Then headed to piazza del duomo, which was lovely, so much quieter and peaceful than hectic Florence. Plus sightseeing all the museums and church was free entry. I can also highly recommend going to see the grotto Moaña. It’s a bit of a hike to get there, uphill going and takes approximately 30 minutes but it’s well worth the experience at the end. The cost of seeing the grotto, which takes about 40-45 minutes is €10 and for an extra €5 you can have a plate of antipasta with a generous glass of red wine. We enjoyed it all.
