Hotel de la Valentin

Perfect location quiet but close enough to the lift and restaurants, lovely hotel & staff very attentive and helpful. Room was spacious big bed and balcony, quiet at night and powerful shower. Good selection at breakfast with the option of cooked eggs & bacon. Had a couple of evening meals here and would recommend. Would stay here again

We stayed at this hotel for skiing over the new year. It provided everything we needed from a lodge, particularly it was warm, easy and very convenient for the slopes. We didn’t have the best arrival there - we had just driven a very long way and there was no parking in the front and I couldn’t initially get anyone to help with bags or guidance on where to park. As it was dark and our first time there, we had no idea of where it was appropriate to park. We were simply told that there must be parking and to bring our own bags up. On my insistence, someone finally came out and helped us find a spot and with the luggage. I don’t think this was due to a lack of consideration but more from a lack of staff. There was rarely anyone around to ask questions or help with logistics. Food was pretty good but there were very few options if you didn’t like what was on the menu. As pork was served one night (which we don’t eat), the girls were offered pasta which was great but then, when it came, it was totally plain. The rooms were very small but the equipment room downstairs was excellent - warm and spacious. The bathroom was also small with only a shower but it was clean. I was frustrated that our soap dispensers by the sink and in the shower were both broken, and our shelf above the sink was hanging loose and couldn’t be used, leaving little room to put toiletries. These are small things that just make a hotel look sloppy as they are easily fixed. We asked whether we could use the steam room one night and were told we could, only to be told later that it was not working. The hotel arranged for a singer on New Years Eve and provided oysters and bubbly which was lovely. The atmosphere was super fun and the food that night was really good. It was a great way to see in the new year. So all in all we enjoyed our stay, loved the location but felt the hotel would need to do a few small things to make it a place we would come back to in the future.

Lovely hotel just minutes from the middle of town and the slopes. Staff were very friendly and kindly allowed us an early check in after driving through the night from Calais. Good value for money and a good breakfast. Plenty of parking available. The ski and boot room is perfectly accessible making it almost ski in ski out. Would definitely stay again if we return to Deux Alpes.

Firstly, it's important to note that the facility is not on the same level as a hotel! It serves more as a hostel. The only reasons that we chose this place over others were the good reviews. However, it was a disappointment that the positive reviews did not seem to match our experience. Unfortunately, the condition of the rooms was poor and they were very small. Upon arrival, we noticed dirt on the bed and the sheets had an unpleasant scent. After bringing our concerns to Crystal's representative, the sheets were changed but it was still unacceptable for cleanliness to be an issue at a facility that hosts guests. The breakfast offered was simple and satisfactory, except for the bread that was never fresh. The server who helped us with the eggs also had an unpleasant attitude when trying to communicate proper etiquette to us. She asked us to put our plates on the tray for her convenience while there was no sign of doing so! Our stay was above the bar, resulting in difficulty sleeping before 11 PM due to the noise level from guests below. On the last night of our stay, we had to call reception to have them ask for the bar attendees to quiet down at 11:30 PM. The morning after, the hotel owner did not apologize but acknowledged that Friday evenings can be noisier. Please note that there is no phone in the room to communicate with the receptionist and we had to call them from a direct line. The wifi was also very weak all around the place. Overall, if this place is evaluated as a hotel, it deserves a 2 out of 10 rating. However, if we consider it a hostel or hustle facility, the experience may earn a rating of 5 or 6

We stayed at Hotel de la Valentin as part of a ski package and as other reviews have said to me the standard is very much of a three star hotel vs two! Comfy bed with a small balcony, good gripping on the bathtub so easy to have a post-ski soak. Plentiful breakfast bar including pancake machine, pastries, boiled eggs or fried on request and fruit, yogurt, hams etc. The hotel is just behind the Belle Etoile lift which makes getting up to the mid mountain easy in the mornings and seemed to be the evening pick up for the ESF ski school, or a short walk from the Jandri Express if you need to get to the top of the glacier. Unfortunately there wasn't as much snow lower down the mountain this year but I imagine in a more snowy year you could virtually ski in/out. Despite going in peak season there was always plenty of room in the ski and boot room and although we didn't take advantage there's a nice common area and bar with a cosy fire to relax in the evenings. The team were very helpful and friendly and we had a great holiday - would recommend!

This is an extremely lovely hotel very close to a ski lift that takes you right to the centre of the ski resort. It is well located, only a 5 minute walk to the main gondola and is in the centre of the town. The hotel is lovely, the rooms are clean, tidy and nicely decorated and the breakfast was very good with a variety of food options including pancakes and pastries. At peak season this hotel would be ski in, ski out and they have a storage space for your boots and skis, but as we were there in the last week of the ski season, we were unable to do this. It is also possible to ski to the hotel via both a black and a green slope so its perfect for all skiing abilities! Whilst we were staying there, we unfortunately received some very sad news and had to leave the holiday early and the staff at the hotel were so accommodating and helpful to us arranging a taxi to take us to the nearest airport, helping us book last minute flights and were extremely compassionate throughout the whole experience. I cannot recommend this hotel enough!
