Byzantino Boutique Hotel

The worst experience I ever had with a hotel. The room was not even close to the photos that are available. Very dirty, there was an intense smell that they tried to hide by spaying perfume at bed sheets as I understand. At the bathroom there was even worse smell of humidity and 2 big cockroaches 🪳. Also my husband’s back is full of bites from bed bugs. As for me I couldn’t sleep all night because I was feeling insects biting me not to mention the stress I had for the presence of cockroaches. The breakfast was awful. I don’t recommend staying there for any reason.

The room was beautifully furnished and very clean. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was plentiful and included local delicacies. The only drawback was that the bathroom was small and it got quite wet when using the shower.

We loved this beautiful hotel. We specifically requested a room with few stairs and a sea view, and we were given exactly that—an antique-filled Ottoman style room (A1) with a balcony overlooking the main square and the sea—perfect for us. We had been worried about having to park outside the town gate and drag our luggage through town, but the reception area is only a few meters inside the gate, and the hotel supplied an amazing porter to carry the baggage to our room. We especially appreciated the comfortable bed with good reading lights, and the drying rack on the balcony. Despite its central location, the room was surprisingly quiet at night, and we could not believe the zillions of stars above. The folks in reception were very helpful and gave us an excellent map and great advice. Breakfast was in a separate building and there was a huge variety of delicious items. Most of the town’s restaurants are only a few steps away from the rooms. We particularly liked Matoula for its great service and beautiful sea view and ate there several times. Galera Gelato was another favorite for their irresistible ice cream. The town is very small and walkable but is not easy for anyone with mobility challenges; the cobblestones and stairs require extra caution. It’s definitely worth a hike up the cliff to see the Upper Town, and outside the east wall to visit the lighthouse. This beautifully preserved town is absolutely magical, and the Byzantino Hotel is the perfect place to stay to soak up its historical atmosphere.

Set in a magnificent and very scenic setting, the hotel has various rooms overlooking the small town of Monemvasia. We had a beautiful room overlooking the town with a balcony, excellent WiFi, good beds and a nice bathroom. Communications before our arrival were excellent and the costs were very reasonable. The staff were very professional and helpful and the room itself very clean and comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed finding our way around this beautiful town. You do have to be mindful that it is cobbled streets throughout and steep climbs to some of the rooms in the hotel and around the town. The only slight downside was that we thought the breakfast was limited with too many sweet choices so not really to our taste. Would definitely recommend a stay here if you visit Monamvasia and would also book again if we return. Thank you for a very welcoming stay 😊

A little magical gem that you dont realize is occurring until you take the time to spend a few days here (stay 3 nights!). Explore little narrow stone alleyways walking on marble stones/ Have your leisurely meals on the restaurants’ rooftops to take in the expansive seaview. Watch the feral cats/ walk to Mateos on the aminland and he’ll show you the fresh-caught fish he will grill for you….It’s all a world-apart that you’ll only know by crossing into the tunnel.

Like stepping back 400 years in time. Room beautifully decorated. Spectacular porch to watch the sea. Fantastic breakfast! Magical medieval setting. Very easy to reach once you enter the village gate (just 10 meters roughly). Spending the night lets you experience the magic of twilight evenings.
