We have just had a lovely 2 night stay at Ardamis. Monemvasia is an incredible place and we felt privileged to stay within the castle. It is particularly beautiful at night and first thing in the morning before it gets too crowded. We chose the suite with the ancient well within it. Our room was quirky, very spacious and clean and it was an unforgettable experience to stay here. Our host was warm, friendly and helpful and we enjoyed chatting to her. Some helpful hints if you are considering staying here - Monemvasia streets are narrow and cobbled with lots of steps and steep and slippery in places, so you will need flat, rubber-soled footwear. For the same reason, it's not easy to move luggage around within the castle walls, so pack lightly if you can. Parking is outside of the castle walls and it's pot luck how close you manage to park.

We were blown away by Monemvasia and our accommodation. The location is perfect. Close to everything and so unique. We wanted for nothing. Loved the little balcony which we made use of for after dinner drinks. What a view. This whole place is pretty spectacular and our host so accommodating.

On an unbelievably hot day of in excess of 40 degrees we were fortunate enough to park close to the fortified entrance to Monemvasia. Ardamis is less than 100yds from the entrance so not fat over the cobblestones to our room. Greeted by our lovely host either chilled water we were shown to our apartment. On two levels with a balcony and sea views. Traditionally decorated with some lovely pieces and yes aircon which was a life saver on this day. We loved it and could explore the town to our hearts content as the town really comes alive after dark. Will stay again for sure.

What an amazing property in beautiful Monemvasia castle. Great location! Beautifully appointed historical rooms. Very spacious and comfortable. Super clean. Nice bottle of wine upon arrival was a really nice touch. This is our second visit to this wonderful property and we absolutely enjoyed it.

We had such a great time at Ardamis. The place has such unique characterists you could only find in Monemvasia like an 800 year old well in your living room! The hosts were very nice and made us feel welcome. They provided us free snacks and drinks in the fridge as well which was a nice touch. Other fun amenities included lights of all different colors, a back porch for eating/relaxing, and a shower with all the nozzles, bells and whistles. We would definitely stay here again!

First of all, you've chosen this location because you want to stay within the walls of a medieval village carved into a mountain. Parking is along a road outside the walls and if you're lucky you might have a 15 minute walk up a hill with your suitcases. Some people get a taxi to the city gate. We walked for about 25 from the car to the opening in 35 degrees. However, the owners did offer a porter. The hotel was about 15 minutes from the gates for us to carry luggage and 8 minutes for the superhuman porter who took our luggage back to the gate when leaving. See pic of him with trolley. The owners were super welcoming and showed us around this remarkable converted two level apartment. Quite unique. There was a remote for the LED lighting which you would never master but it was fun. An AC unit above the bed was an amazing boon as the atmosphere was humid. It would have benefitted from AC in the upper level. There was no kitchen area which, for many would not be an issue as the small number of close by restaurants were outstanding. There was a kettle and fridge and this suited us. In terms of cost, this was the upper end of what we would pay in Greece and without breakfast, I am not sure this was value for money but .... if you are into experiences ... this is a great surprise. You are sleeping and living in a 6th century AD place!
