Adults-Only Boutique Hotel Villa Edera & La Torretta

We've just returned from a wonderful 6 night stay at the Villa Edera. Every member of staff we encountered was absolutely charming, the food in the restaurant was superb, the wine tasting with Daniel was great fun, and the pool and the lounge very welcome for chilling out after hard days hiking. We were also very glad of the restorative complimentary tea and biscuits at 5pm, shortly prior to aperitivo hour! Staying in Moneglia provides fantastic access by train to the Cinque Terre and to Portofino, was easily reached by train from Pisa, yet remains relatively crowd free. There are an abundance of good restaurants and a lovely beach for swimming. A fantastic experience and Villa Edera was a wonderful base from which to enjoy and explore the area,

As soon as we arrived and sat out on the terrace to have lunch, we knew we were going to enjoy our stay at Villa Edera e La Torretta. Everything was so lovely: the welcome, the relaxing ambiance, the stylish décor, the gardens, the view, the waiter, the food …. everything. We were a group of four travelling to celebrate a special occasion, and we had chosen this hotel based solely on reviews since the area was new to us. We wanted a comfortable and tranquil place to spend time together, and from which we could explore Cinque Terre and Portofino. Villa Edera was all of this and more. We were all charmed by the place. We loved the light and airy lounge area, the elegant restaurant, the beautiful terraces and the gardens. But the heart of the hotel, and what made our stay really special, was the wonderful team of people who work there. The service was always exceptional: everything was done with great care and attention to detail but in a relaxed and friendly manner that made us feel right at home. The food was delicious, well-presented and beautifully served. There was an interesting wine list and a friendly, knowledgeable wine waiter to help us navigate it. The reception ladies were delightful – genuinely wanting us to enjoy our stay and always happy to help with information and suggestions for our trips out. We enjoyed getting to know the area and sampling the hiking opportunities, but it was always nice each day to come ‘home’ to Villa Edera. We wished we could have stayed longer!

Hotel Villa Edera & La Torretta provided a stylish and comfortable home from home experience that one cannot reliably obtain simply by spending money. The building and the grounds are lovely. The room was stylish. The food was great. However, what really made the visit a memorable one was the relaxed and friendly approach of all the people who work there and make the place what it is. Bland corporate efficiency is often desirable (eg on a business trip) but efficiency with a genuinely relaxed and friendly human face is what makes a hotel a place where one can feel at home. At Hotel Villa Edera, this human touch began when parking the car in the car park after a long journey from Geneva, then continued (in interactions with many different hotel staff) until departure. Orietta, the owner, has a very hands-on approach to managing the business and has an excellent sense for what her guests want. Her presence in the building at all hours demonstrates her commitment to what she and her team do. I’ve been to many hotels I’d be happy to stay at again if I had to, but Hotel Villa Edera & La Torretta is one I’d would really want to stay at again.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this hotel. The staff were extremely friendly and very helpful. The food was exceptionally good. We are both vegan and the catering staff went to a lot of trouble to make sure we had plenty of options to choose from.

We had a lovely week at Villa Edera. Such a beautiful setting right by the pretty town of Moneglia and its beach. A perfect setting for walking and visiting the Cinque Terre. The hotel is a master class in customer service; the staff were brilliant. The garden areas are so pretty with fruit trees, olive trees, a vine arch and the kitchen garden. The breakfasts were plentiful and fresh food. The wine tasting on offer is a lovely touch. I’d love to still be there!

We stayed for 9 nights at this fantastic hotel. Perfectly situated being a short walk into Moneglia & to the train station. Close enough to Cinque Terre area but without the crowds. The hotel is beautiful, lots of attention to detail, from the decor throughout to the presentation of the breakfast. The grounds to the hotel are very pretty, as soon as you open the gates you feel like you’re entering a secret oasis of calm. Such a restful place to stay after a full day of walking. All the staff were polite, friendly and helpful. All the family members who owned the hotel were fantastic, clearly all have a passion to give the best service possible. The walks in the area are amazing and the knowledge of the staff with their recommendations of routes was much appreciated. Thank you for providing such a wonderful place to stay!
