Newforge House

Staying at Newforge House is exceptional from start to finish. John has a great experienced team who really know how to look after people and make everyone feel special. The food John prepares is always superb, his culinary skills are exceptional, the timing for all diners, perfect. Our room choice is Hannah, which we find quiet and comfortable (though I am sure they all are) Already looking forward to returning next year, highly recommend you stay here and enjoy the great food and service, truly 1st class.

We had a wonderful experience at Newforge House. John and his team were so friendly and attentive. We had amazing food and a very relaxed night's sleep in a beautifully furnished room. The whole house is so tastefully furnished keeping history alive.

My wife and I organised the stay to commemorate a memorable occasion and the Newforge House seemed the best place to do that. It turned out to be the perfect setting. The Hanna suite, with the front garden view, and with a sturdy, comfortable four posted bed made the one night stay a real treat. If the bedroom was perfect , the set menu was superb and our enjoyment of the relaxing atmosphere was easily surpassed by the wonderful tastes and flavours of the evening dinner. John, our host, is a star performer in the kitchen. The Hannan fillet steak was tender, flavoursome and beautifully cooked, exactly as we both ordered. Probably the best steak I have ever tasted! John's wife Lou presented the cheese plate, probably 6 or 7 mixed choices of Irish origin, which was quite outstanding. All the delicious food served by Catherine and Collette. We can't wait until our next notable occasion to celebrate and will have no difficulty of choosing Newforge House once again as the most suitable venue. It never disappoints. Submitted by Allanco.

From the moment we arrived there was a very personal experience. Wonderful and welcoming staff. The food was locally sourced and prepared and presented beautifully. The house is nestled in a quiet setting and with large bedrooms. Well done John and team for a fabulous weekend.

Special stay from beginning to end. Everything about this place is excellent and John and his team make you feel very special with their personal touch. The house is very comfortable and very quiet, you hear nothing from room to room.Bathroom was large, as was our bedroom (Hannah) great sleep. Evening dinner is an event, drinks in the lounge then shown to your table.Each dinner was superb and is a set menu that changes daily, you will be blown away with the tastes, quality, presentation and level of service (very high standard) Highly recommend you book a stay here, one of the best we have stayed in and a must return on our next visit to NI.

I had the absolute pleasure of staying with John and his team during a recent visit to the Balmoral Show (journey to show grounds under 20mins). It’s a wonderful and unique in these times to experience stay where you are treated like a guest and not a paying customer. The house exudes old world charm, the decor original and one can only wonder about the history of each exquisite piece of furniture. From arrival each member of staff that came to introduce themselves couldn’t have been more attentive or helpful. (Including the ability to charge your EV) The food was exceptional, everything cooked fresh to order, I only wish I could have stayed another night so I could have sampled everything on the breakfast menu. John was overly accommodating as we constantly changed our dinner plans due to my husband being caught in awful traffic all afternoon in Dublin. He was glad to have made it as dinner was delicious and the dedication to local produce came to the fore as the cheese board was explained in great detail. A stay here will alter your views of corporate hotels filled with plastic bedrooms and generic breakfasts forever, for who could want that when you could have Newforge House.
