I stayed two nights at Kounoyu Ryokan in Kurokawa Onsen during a trip to Kumamoto with my parents in their 70s. If you stay for multiple nights, the kaiseki dinner menu is different and unique. (The first day's kaiseki was basashi (horse sashimi), and the second day's kaiseki was grilled Akagyu (Aso beef). It was delicious. Since it was in the mountains, the temperature in the evening dropped, so it was perfect for taking an open-air bath. It was on the second floor of the annex, but there was a bathroom on the second floor, so it was comfortable, and the staff was very kind, so I stayed comfortably.
