Are you the kind of person who likes a big hotel with lots of marble and a cool pianist in the lobby, with room service at your beck and call? If so, don't come here. On the other hand, if you want an immaculately set out room with a view of the surrounding countryside and the mountains, with no sound except for bird song, and with the most gracious of hosts, then this place is for you. The room is part Japanese style, with a fridge, kettle, a great shower and air con. Breakfast is an optional extra. TAKE IT!! We were told that it would be a Western breakfast. A Western breakfast in a Western country can be anything from a few pastries to egg and bacon. Breakfast here turned out to be a wonderful Japanese re-imagining of a Western breakfast, absolutely delicious and made, as far as possible, with home grown ingredients. For evening meals, we drove down into Minamiaso where there are a number of restaurants. Do note that you must have a car to get to Wakka. It is 500 m up a tiny country lane, but the hosts will send you careful directions. The cat is not friendly, at least not to me. Everything else was perfect.
