Casa Goliana la Roma

Pros: great location; kind, helpful staff Cons: tons of street noise, uncomfortable beds, very expensive for the quality. Very poor value. Quite limited breakfast. The floors are so uneven it's hard to walk. Doors and wardrobes hang open due to the slope. Bathrooms are cramped and showers are terrible.

Best service I’ve had at any hotel! Jess and Pamela and the whole concierge team were unfailingly helpful and friendly. The building seems to be a renovated mansion—sweeping staircase, high ceilings, spacious guest rooms, including the bathrooms. It's both charming (slightly tilted floors) and elegant at the same time, and very secure (access only if the porter buzzes you in). Try the tamal for breakfast, as well as the delicious homemade salsa that comes with the eggs.

Would not want to stay anywhere else if visiting CDMX again! Very charming and comfortable with amazing breakfast provided. Right in the middle of Roma Norte with a short walk to any number of delicious restaurants and places to shop. The staff is so friendly and welcoming and we feel so lucky to have found this gem of a hotel!

We can’t recommend Casa Goliana highly enough after a delightful six-night stay. We look forward to returning soon! The house itself is beautiful with lovely spacious outdoor terraces and a charming dining room where a complimentary breakfast is served every morning. We stayed in the master suite, which has a bedroom with a king size bed and a separate living space. It is ideal either for a couple or 3 people traveling together, including a family of 3. The sitting room can convert into a second bedroom, and each room gives you maximum privacy. A large well appointed bathroom sits between the two rooms of the suite. The rooms themselves were well furnished with comfortable sitting areas. The air conditioning worked well too. The hotel has 24 hour security and Don Carlos and Don Augustín were always ready to lend a helpful hand. The location in Roma Norte can’t be beat. Just around the corner and down the street, you have access to a variety of cafes, restaurants, and shops. One day we walked to the Museo del Objeto, yet another hidden Mexico City gem. From Casa Goliana we were able easily to get around to where we wanted to go or to get an Uber when we needed one. The beautiful setting is matched by the outstanding staff. Everyone we met was friendly and helpful. As we were heading out one more morning. we were offered umbrellas in case we hadn’t brought them from home. A special shout out to Pam. She put together an extensive list of vegetarian restaurants and cafes to ensure one of our party had good options and shared personal insights about her wonderful hometown of Mexico City. The staff gave us numerous other recommendations of their favorite cafes, restaurants and local attractions, encouraging us to visit Museo Anahuacalli in Coyocan, which turned out to be a highlight of our trip. When we brought take out back one night from a local taqueria, the staff set up the dining room for us to use. They also had wine available for purchase. Casa Goliana also partners with several local tours and can make all the arrangements for you. Casa Goliana is a treasure. We can’t imagine staying anywhere else in Mexico City.

Had difficulty choosing between 3 and 4 for this one. Positives: - very polite, friendly and helpful staff - good location for Roma Norte - spacious room - good air conditioning (in part of the room; see below) - clean and comfortable - security 24/7 to monitor ingress/egress Negatives: - we got the master suite, which is basically two rooms separated from each other by the entrance and bathroom. Second room and bathroom had no air conditioning, so essentially we paid extra for a suite we couldn’t use since it was almost 90 degrees F during our stay. - impossible to control the shower temperature. At any moment, it would fluctuate to either very cold or scalding hot - lots of street noise. For us, we stayed mainly on weekdays, so most of the noise was cars honking their horns starting early in the morning. On Friday night, we heard sirens blaring close by all night long. - floors very slanted and squeaky in spots. This could be seen as part of a charming old building. However, it was difficult to navigate at night and very noisy, waking your partner when getting up in the middle of the night. Squeaky bathroom door hinges didn’t help. - limited breakfast menu doesn’t change daily and could be a lot better.

We had a fantastic stay at this charming hotel in the heart of CDMX! The location couldn't be better, and the rooms were clean, quiet, and surprisingly spacious. The staff were exceptional, providing top-notch service throughout my stay. As for breakfast, it exceeded my expectations with its variety and quality. Overall, I was thoroughly impressed and will definitely be returning. Highly recommended for anyone visiting CDMX!
