Harpur's of Melbourne

Although we could not sit in the restaurant due to it being fully booked, we were quickly accommodated in the bar area which was clean, spacious and had a warm, relaxed atmosphere. The service at the bar and the table was friendly and quick, and the food we had was delicious. We would definitely visit again!

Excellent place to go for a fully enjoyable Sunday lunch. The choice of dishes suited everyone's tastes. Opted for the 2 courses for £25.99 or 3 courses for £30.99. The quality of the dishes was well worth the price. Good size servings and tasted delicious. The puddings were extra special also. Set in a lovely building in the centre of Melbourne which in itself is a very pleasant place to visit. Well worth a visit.

The staff went out of their way to be helpful to find a room for someone with mobility problems at present. The food in the restaurant was excellent. The accommodation itself was in a terraced house across the road from the main hotel, and had been beautifully converted to include a bedroom with a comfortable double bed, a bathroom, a kitchen with numerous appliances (including a kettle, microwave, fridge/freezer, washing machine and more), with a modern bathroom and back door which opened onto a small terrace. Everything was spotlessly clean and tastefully decorated. My only minor criticisms concern some points which could easily be put right. Although the accommodation was clearly intended for two people, there was only one chair in the entire place, and not even a small table, which is odd when you have cooking facilities provided! The electric blind in the bathroom did not work, nor did the bedside lamp (presumably just a battery and a bulb which needed replacing). I would recommend this place highly.

Stayed at Harpurs for a night on business trip. Initially on check I was a little concerned as the staff member checking me in seemed a little disorganised , I was also disappointed as I was told breakfast wouldn’t be available the following day. Room was ok. Tv placement a little odd, also difficult to open windows to get airflow through. Given the heat opening the windows was important. I had dinner in the bar. The barman was a breath of fresh air. I am so accustomed to staff that don’t seem to care. Have no knowledge of menu or drinks. This gentleman was the opposite. No request too difficult. I ordered the squid and the pizza. Both very good. Served with nice locally brewed beer. Overall a good nights stay. I would recommend and will stay again if I need a hotel in the area.

Brief overnight stay whilst attending an event at Donnington. Easy to find, free parking if resident. Very noisy on arrival early evening but that's to be expected on a Bank Holiday weekend and we were able to have relaxed pre dinner drinks in the courtyard garden. Beautifully appointed bedroom and bathroom (though would have appreciated bottled water in room). Dinner was fine but what made this stay so enjoyable was the wonderful staff, especially the two young guys who looked after us extremely well and this was most appreciated. Would definitely stay again.

Stayed here after a wedding that was a short walk away, Hotel room was very clean and comfy. Thought it would be noisy as we looked out on the road, but it wasn’t. Staff were very friendly . Only slept here , didn’t eat so can’t comment on food, but it looked a busy place
