Sudwala Lodge

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Sudwala Lodge. The resort is clean and well mainrained. Staff and management are very friendly. Sudwala Lodge is located right next to the Sudwala caves so you have easy access to the caves from the lodge itself. The facilities are also well maintained. We really enjoyed the morning mountain hike, thanks to Dimples for that :-) Great scenery makes it even more amazing! Will definitely stay there again.

Room was dirty and bedding had a bad smell. We ended up changing our stay from 2 nights to 1. Bad experience

Lovely property and location. Caves, zipline and Butterfly Garden is so close and lovely to do. Units are old though and need updating, but very clean, which is important. On site restaurant is okay - could be better. Restaurant at the caves is good, with a beautiful view.

We booked this special 50th anniversary trip through RCI, not knowing what to expect. TripAdvisor reviews ranged from 1 star to 5 stars. From the moment we were greated by Surprize and the other reception staff, we found them friendly, organized and helpful. All rules and activities were carefully explained. The lodge is well laid out and well maintained. We were in a 4-sleeper express, adequate for 2 people, but I think a little small for 4. Plenty to do, weather permitting, tennis, putt-putt, games room, gym, to mention a few. A lovely hiking trail and river walk. Daiky visits by buck and monkeys. An added bonus...no mosquitos, the bats eat them! The lodge is 1,7km from Sudwala Caves, another great feature. We visited the nearby Butterfly Nature Garden on the caves road, it's free and well worth the visit. We were treated to a Pensioners' Tea on the Thursday morning. Making scones is an art and these were baked by an artist. 1 star?? Not on our trip.

We visited in August and found the best winter getaway - 30+ degrees in the daytime though the swimming pool water was only for the brave. Highlights were the welcoming Friday evening braai and the night walk and stick bread, compliments of the great staff.

It was raining for most of the time we were at the lodge ,but the two days it didn't rain , we were able to go out with the kids and enjoy the play areas as they had a couple ,as well as the pool ... The stuff is truly the best , they made our stay the so nice .the resort is about an hours drive from Gods window so we went there . They also have a dinosaur park in the vicinity, we took the kids there also , they had tons of fun ...great place to visit in general
