The Rainforest Ecolodge - Sinharaja with Shuttle Service

Both the food and the staff here were very good. We spent one night at the Ecolodge and had to leave early the next morning so opted for the afternoon nature walk. Just as we set off, thunder and lightening began together with a deluge of rain. The hotel had provided raincoats but the zips didn’t work properly and we were soon soaked to the skin. After half an hour we decided to turn back and the stream we had crossed previously had turned into a river. We had to wade across it on the edge of a small waterfall with water up to our knees, which hardly mattered as our walking boots were already full of water. The guide was good and got us back safely but I feel that the walk should have been abandoned when it became apparent how bad the rain was. Had we left it later, I doubt we would have made it back. You expect rain in a rainforest and we had been reasonably well prepared but we would rather not have been taken out in the circumstances and we hadn’t expected to be picking leeches off each other on our return! There are no drying facilities at the hotel so we had to pack our wet clothes and walking boots the next day. The room had everything we needed (including good WiFi reception) but the bed was one of those that bounce up and down whenever one of you turns over or gets out, waking the other. A comfortable bed would make a huge difference, as would drying facilities. Having said all that, had the weather been better we would have enjoyed the walk and the peacefulness of the location. It must have been a huge logistical feat to build the lodge in such a remote place and I’m only sorry that we weren’t able to appreciate it more. The views on the journey to and from the lodge are stunning.

I recently stayed at Rainforest Ecolodge, and it was a truly unforgettable experience. The view from the lodge is breathtaking, with a misty jungle canopy stretching as far as the eye can see—a perfect escape into nature! The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, making us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. They genuinely care about creating a great experience for guests. We also went jungle trekking, which was a thrilling adventure, and the guides were knowledgeable and engaging. The food was delicious and beautifully presented, with every meal adding to the overall experience. I highly recommend Rainforest Ecolodge for anyone looking for a unique and refreshing retreat in nature.

Perfect location to relax and unwind and to get disconnect from everything else and reconnect with the nature. Loved my stay there llistening to the birds tweet from my own deck attached to the chalet. Was lucky to see a magpie from there too. Food is delicious. Rooms are comfortable. Staff is very ffriendly. Will be back.

This was a wonderful experience that truly grounds you with nature. The hotel staff is kind and helpful, and Jagath the naturalist was very knowledgeable and fun to trek with. We recommend taking the longer trail for a more immersive rainforest experience. However the shorter trail is as good, and includes a waterfall :). The food at the property was very good. We chose to have Sri Lankan cuisine for lunch and it came with a generous array of vegetables. The food felt clean and healthy to eat and is a great option for vegetarians. Breakfast and dinner were also very good. Meals are on set menu. The rooms were cozy and just nice. We enjoyed our experience here.

Very hospitable staff, at a unique and cozy rooms at a memorable hotel at the centre of Sinharaja rain forest. Absolutely beautiful scenery, lots of birds for bird watchers and nice hikes. (The blue magpies come to a tree 2 meters away from the lounge,) Truly amazing place.

The experience in this hotel was great! The moment we arrived the professional staff made us feel welcome with their friendly service.one of the highlights of our stay was exploring the surrounding forest trails. This is the best place to enjoy the nature.
