Hotel Iaccarino

Lovely large room with a beautiful view. Staff all lovely and very helpful. The free shuttle bus was fantastic and did everything to accommodate your wishes. Driver was fantastic too. The hotel setting is 10/10. However the low score was due to the food. It was very very disappointing. Breakfast was hit and miss. A lot of the time eggs/bacon etc were cold. Toaster did not toast well at all, it either burnt or wasn’t toasted. I waited for bacon to come out of the kitchen and when it arrived it was cold. We in the end after giving it a go ate out. One night we did not have a choice of food and I asked why and they said they had music on. Not sure of the relevance unless it’s down to cost. This hotel could be fantastic but they need to sort the kitchen out. The food was tasteless,cold or too dried up to eat. I would love to give 10/10 but food is very important on holiday and being in Italy I did not expect this.

We stayed here for our first wedding anniversary from 3-10 May and we fell in love with the hotel and the village Sant’Agata!! The hotel photos don’t really do it justice as the hotel is really quaint and very traditional Italian we absolutely loved it and the outside terrace overlooking the Bay of Naples and Vesuvius was just stunning! Right from the point we arrived we were so welcomed by the staff and I’m sorry I didn’t get the names of the wonderful lady at reception who was always very chatty to us and gave us wonderful recommendations! There was another younger guy at reception too who was great but in fairness everyone was so friendly and welcoming! We stayed in room 53 ….. WOW just WOW…. The room was very comfy the shower was a bit tight to manoeuvre in but sufficient but the views from our balcony were just amazing I never tired of those views and we frequently sat of an Evening looking out over Vesuvius and lights of Sorrento!! Bed was very comfy and room clean and functional. As many people have said the food is probably the hotel’s less impressive feature. Food was edible and on the whole tastey but portions small and presentation not the best but the hotel caters for very large coach parties and dinner and breakfast were hectic to say the least and just felt more like a motorway canteen than a restaurant which is a pity. The waiters were lovely but absolutely run off their feet and it just felt rushed. Breakfast was almost always empty even by 730am as the coach tours piled in before they went out for the day and sadly the food was not replaced so very little choice! We ended up eating out several nights and found a Beautiful restaurant just round corner! Don’t get me wrong food was ok with a few choices but portions small and just not well presented it just felt rushed and if you arrived later than it’s likely no table for you. That said we loved the hotel and have rebooked for next year as overall it was great and loved it and after the busses of tourists in Sorrento and other towns it was lovely peaceful stunning views with wonderful staff so please DO TRY here you’ll have a wonderful time! We stayed in a Seaview room with a small balcony. Our room was basic but spotless, everything you need. Our room was cleaned daily to a high standard, fresh towels, etc. The staff in this hotel are fantastic, always very friendly, they work very hard and always helpful. The hotel itself is very beautiful, the flowers, reception and drink area is immaculate. The pool is very relaxing with excellent views. They offer a good shuttle bus service down into sorrento, which is a great addition as taxis are expensive The only reason I am giving 3 stars is because of the food. Breakfast was perfect, with plenty of options. Dinner, unfortunately, was disappointing. I was asked by our travel rep (at the hotel) about any special requirements. I explained I do not eat meat and have a severe allergy to shellfish, which she reported to hotel. The dinner is a la carte, so on the first night I had an option of either trio of cheese or 2 fried eggs. I chose the cheese and it was literally 3 different flavours of cheese and a spoonful of jam. No crackers/ olives etc. I honestly expected better of a 4 star hotel. The next night we met friends for dinner, so on the third night I viewed the menu, the fish option was scallops (which is shellfish so I couldn't eat it) and there was vegetarian option at all. The next 2 nights offering was omelette. Italian food offers so many options for non meat eaters, so I was disappointed with the lack of imagination for me. When I go away, I enjoy trying the local food, however it did not showcase Italian cuisine. That being said, we never ate dinner in the hotel from the first night. We ate in some beautiful restaurants in the town. I did mention to the representative on two occasions about the food. I also know it was not just us. The food at dinner was something a lot of other guests were unhappy about. That being said, I would return to this hotel and would highly recommend it to others, I just would not go half board. I would do breakfast only.
