The Birchy, Adventure Lodging by Base Hospitality Group

Not too sure i am a fan of contactless hotels. It took me 40 minutes in the cold to get back in my room. And i had to borrow a phone to leave a message.

OVERALL ALL...GREAT HOTEL, CLEAN, SERVICE WAS GREAT....AWESOME VIEWS....ONLY DOWNFALL IS THEIR MARQUEE SIGN WAS SO BRIGHT ALL NIGHT LONG... SHONE THROUGH AND AROUND BLINDS

I have been staying at this location for 12 years off and on. I understand the new concept of the Birchy. It would be helpful if your cleaning staff knew how many nights the next guest were staying. We checked in for a 4 night stay for 2 people and have two bath towels and 2 coffee pods with no daily service. Went over to the main building to get towels, coffee and it was not stocked, Ian was nice enough to have someone bring towels for the rest of our stay. Supply more garbage bags for a longer stay, we went and bought garbage bags for the room. More hooks and shelves in bathroom, and the shower, there is no place to put soap or shampoo etc… chairs in rooms to sit on. The beds are very high, very soft. We ended up rotating the mattress, made a small difference, put your beds on a rotation schedule as they should be. Outdoor lighting should be changed with the seasons, 10pm in the fall it is pitch black, 7am same. It’s a good concept, just needs tweaking for guest use. Please mention in the amenities that in fall that the fire pits, grills are not available.

Really beautiful view and a great value for the location. We enjoyed the patio a lot. Two notes I would add, if you are hoping to view the northern lights you may want to go off premise as the property is very well lit. Great from a safety perspective, but less so for night sky viewing. There is some degree of road noise on the patio, but that comes with the territory of such a conveniently located roadside stay.

On the pro side: decent beds updated big picture window and deck facing the lake. Modern crisp esthetic. My 20’s kids would love it! The electric blind, the fancy lit bathroom mirror, the white sound machine ( useful for loud highway noise) On the Con side: There is no lighting in the place except the overhead light in the doorway and bathroom. The bedroom has no lamps or lights and no bedside table to put a book or your glasses. The big con even for my kids is that there are no plugs to charge your devices by the beds. A few lamps, a couple of power bars and a few small bedside tables or even stools would bring the scores up to a 5!! I hope the owners ( I’m thinking they are young entrepreneurs) can add these few essentials to create a winner motel
