Doghouse Margate

This was quite simply the best B&B I’ve ever stayed in with so many thoughtful touches. Set in a beautifully restored Victorian house in a quiet residential street in the Cliftonville area, it’s just steps away from a large selection of small shops and restaurants and a direct bus link into Margate centre. (Sete - a small French restaurant 3 minutes away was wonderful for dinner and the Grain Grocer - a cafe in an organic shop nearby, was great for lunch). We parked for free right outside and were warmly greeted on arrival. Our room was beautifully furnished with a very comfortable bed, small table for breakfast and a luxurious bathroom. Small touches like slippers, dressing gowns, toiletries, luxurious towels, an umbrella, a charger, lots of hangers, a coffee machine and a selection of drinks/snacks in an honesty bar in the hallway made our stay so comfortable and relaxing. There is a blackboard in the hallway with lots of recommendations for walks, restaurants and things to do which was very appreciated. We were able to order our breakfast online a few days before our stay which was very easy. I had the vegetarian full English (veggie sausage, eggs, mushroom, beans, halloumi cheese and toast) and my mother had pancakes and fruit. Both were absolutely delicious and generously sized. A selection of juices, teas and coffees completed the meal. Our hosts, Mel and Fe were so welcoming striking the perfect balance of being available to answer any questions without being overbearing. The Doghouse is quite simply the model of a B&B done right. If you are in the Margate area you this is the place you want to stay. Thank you for making our visit so enjoyable.

Such a lovely stay! We had a wonderful time. Breakfasts were delicious, Mel and Fe were great hosts. The room was super comfortable and clean. Highly recommend to anyone wanting to stay in Margate. We will definitely be coming back to stay again!

Everything there is clean and smells so good. I enjoyed spending the time there and just enjoy the silence. The property is a walking distance from the beach and some restaurants and pubs. The staff was friendly and breakfast served was also very good.

We had an amazing stay at the Doghouse Margate. Fe and Mel were such amazing hosts and I am super happy to have booked our stay at the Doghouse Margate. Breakfast was amazing and cannot wait to return again. The room was spacious, clean and the bed was super comfortable, so much so that we asked about the mattress. Location was perfect too as it was ideal for shops and coffee places. Parking was also pretty easy and gave us options to walk or drive depending on where one wanted to go. For anyone looking to visit Margate and is looking for a place to stay, Doghouse Margate if I may say so can come highly recommended and you will love it.

We stayed at the Doghouse for an anniversary weekend and I guess the only thing I missed was a sea view each morning. However I would prefer a perfect stay over that anytime. There was nothing we went without - starting with free parking across the road, gorgeous spacious comfortable room and incredible breakfast. The owners have thought of everything. If I have missed anything we obviously didn't need it! As for Margate - our first visit and we really liked it. Yes there are some very run down parts of town but also some lovely parts too. It was an easy walk (about 20 mins) direct to and from the Doghouse to the old town and sea front or a slightly longer walk along the sea front from Walpole Bay. We ate at Dory's and Sargasso - really great food. Some great brews at The Two Halves and delish cocktails at Little Swift. All in all a great weekend.

We recently stayed at The Doghouse in Margate and thought it was brilliant! Our room was clean, modern, and well-designed, with nice towels and a spotless bathroom. The breakfast was amazing—great quality ingredients that set us up for the day. The location is perfect: slightly out of the main hustle but just a short walk to the town and beaches. The recommendations on the board were brilliant and made our trip so easy. Parking was not an issue; we parked directly opposite. Overall, it was such an easy and enjoyable trip. We'd definitely be back!
