Margate

I paid £167 for 2 adults months before visit. A family of 4 checked in before and paid £110. What a total rip off. Fell cheated.

Standard of accommodation was typical of this chain. Car Parking (not run by Premier) is appalling. We booked and paid for car parking in advance.but when we arrived there was none available. Basically it is public car park run on a first come first served basis, so no point booking in advance or probably coming by car; the hotel is next to the station so come by train if you can.

we normally drive home after a visit to margate but decided to stay over night to visit dover the next day,twin 6 year old boys first stay in a hotel and they loved the adventure,room big enough for us all and good shower.nice view of the sea and comfy beds,breakfast was brilliant,hot and good selection,really friendly breakfast staff.

The location of this hotel is great but the recent changes they have made especially around the restaurant and bar facilities and opening times together with the new parking restrictions and charges mean that we would not return here

I'm actually very sad to be writing a negative review about the Premier Inn, Margate. We've always loved staying in PI hotels previously and enjoy the standard offering expected. I'd also like to add that none of the points raised are criticisms of individual staff, all of whom appeared very polite and rushed off their feet trying to hold the place together. We stayed for three nights in hot August weather. We were told on arrival (not before) that there was no WiFi at the hotel. This wasn't a sudden unplanned outage- the contract had expired two weeks ago. Though we had plans beyond being online in our room, it made life harder. Had we been warned, we could have prepared, for example, by downloading some of my son's sleep stories to help him settle at night.If we had been needing access for work, it could have been a significant issue. There were signs at reception saying evening meal times were limited due to staff shortages and the play area outside was marked as closed. The general condition of the building was worn. The initial impression was of a place struggling to stay afloat. We got to our room, which was compact and swelteringly hot. A single fan was provided and much appreciated but in a family room for three it didn't take much an edge off the boiling air. I tried calling and then emailing reception but got no answer or reply. To be fair to them, staff appeared frantic and managing multiple roles. We bought our own little fan to supplement the one in the room in the end but it was an uncomfortable stay. We had dinner in the restaurant on our first night. We got there early and sat down quickly having ordered at the bar. There didn't appear to be enough staff to take orders at the table. However, the shortage of staff soon showed and there was a long impatient queue forming quickly behind us. Unfortunately my child was served cucumber with white, furry spots which (though harmless) was off putting and upsetting for him. The server was apologetic and offered to replace the cucumber but it put us off returning for dinner again- we found the Wetherspoons down the road offered a bigger range and faster service. Once again, the staff we did see looked like they were working hard in shoddy conditions to make the best of things. Nonetheless, the place felt like it was about to close down and not a vibrant, welcoming place to stay. I did try reaching out to PI with our feedback and, to their credit, they apologised and responded quickly. They also pointed out the hotel doesn't advertise having air con, however, and responded to say they would be "re-training" staff. From my impression, the issues didn't appear to need staff retraining but basic investment in the hotel facilities. All in all, this has put us off booking another PI stay anytime soon. We've learned the experience you get isnt standard across all hotels and that we've been lucky before when we've stayed at other locations. The hotel is brilliantly located close to the

Super service with a welcoming smile. Nothing too much for staff here. Jayda was very friendly and helpful. You can check in early and breakfast was lovely. Staff got you anything you requested. Was a quiet hotel and the rooms kept to a good standard.

We have stayed at this hotel several times over the years. We will not, however, be returning again until such time as Premier Inn management implement a badly needed refurbishment. The communal areas are so scruffy. The corridors badly need a repaint and a deep clean. The restaurant carpet was clean. The walls and paintwork though were again scruffy and in need of some TLC. Items were unavailable at breakfast. Usually the one thing you can rely on is a spotlessly clean bedroom. However in our room the skirting boards were covered in thick dust. There is usually a pack of 2 spare pillows that have been sealed. We just had the one pillow in a half opened bag so no idea if it been changed since the previous occupant. There is no air con in the main building which makes for uncomfortable sleeping when the weather is hot. The fan provided didn't make any appreciable difference. The play area/garden was closed and getting quite overgrown. Overall it was just so tatty it was difficult to believe that this hotel is part of the Premier Inn Group.

Great location and staff were generally friendly, breakfast was good value and fairly decent. However, the hotel is tired and not very loved. A bit smelly in places, my room wasn’t cleaned to a decent standard, overflowing rubbish and skips in the car park and service in the evening was awful due to lack of staff. Improvements are needed! What what I paid this wasn’t good value for money.

My family an I stay in Premier Inn's approximately 5-6 times per year, so we didn't hesitate to book this for our short stay to Margate. It definitely was not cheap by PI standards, but we thought that it was still good value for money, in an excellent location. However, it was unbearable. My family and I didn't sleep for two nights on account of the room reaching 28.5 to 30 each night. The thermostat in the room could not be controlled for some reason, so we were stuck with it. It was noticeably humid when you entered the room from the corridor and made it unbearable to spend any time in the room. There was no WIFI at all, at any point during the stay. Not for free, not to buy. For me, along with aircon, this is an absolute basic! The vending machine was not working and all in all it was really shoddy. The staff were nice and helpful which is something I suppose. I won't be returning, nor could I ever recommend this to anyone visiting Margate for the reasons above.
