Tabulia Tree Hotel is beautiful! It is just a few minute drive outside of Quepos. We booked for a large group of students, and the hotel was very easy to work with. All of our rooms were close together, the staff was friendly and attentive, and breakfast was filling. When we needed a taxi, the front desk was able to call for us. When we needed space for group meetings, they accommodated us in the pool bar area. Geckos are incredibly common in all areas of Costa Rica (better get used to it if you’re not). However, as our students were not aware of this, when they found gecko droppings in their room (again, VERY common in Costa Rica), they freaked out. When notified, the housekeepers did a deep clean of the entire room and changed all bed sheets immediately. One thing to note is there are a lot of stairs. However, they do have a golf cart service the majority of the day to help transport luggage and people if needed.

Nothing good to say about this place. Rooms are dark and tired, coffee machine in room but charge you £2.50 for a single pod for it, in a country that grows coffee! No water provided in the rooms. There is a safe but you have to pay for the key. Rooms are tiny and very claustrophobic. Bathroom was disgusting with stains around the toilet and sink. Shower cubicle was dirty. Used the onsite dining facilities for breakfast, options are limited. Restaurant is directly on a busy road with open sides so have the fumes from passing traffic. Was present when an elderly guest fell, cutting her head. There was no first aid on site and only kitchen towel was offered to stem the bleed. Fire extinguishers are non existent with only one in reception and considering the rooms are of wooden construction does not give you confidence in an emergency. Badly run tired property needs a revamp.

Do not recommend. Rooms are old, air smells Moldy. Staff doesn’t seem to care to help. We checked in to one room and then had to move due to issues. The next room was terrible mold smell. Debated just moving to a different location rather than “tough” it out one more night. Asked for towels 3x and they were never delivered. Pool is ok.

Property has some age on it but is well maintained. Don’t expect a five star hotel here but it’s clean and the staff aims to please. Restaurant food is very good and priced right. Bartender knows her way around and can make you just about anything you order. It’s just minutes from Manual Antonio National Park.

The location was great! The pool was beautiful. The staff was friendly. The guys that drove the golf cart to take you to and from your room were great! the rooms were straight up the mountain. Very steep path or 80 steps! We enjoyed the very limited free breakfast with the monkeys running along the power. The food was average. The room was nice. The bed mattress was horrible. Wash cloths were not provided. Coffee was not supplied. 2.50 for a 3 cup pouch at reception. Was it nice? Yes. Would I stay again? No

A last-minute trip resulted in minimal hotel options, so we ended up at Tabulia Tree Hotel more by default than by choice. Our stay vastly exceeded expectations! Our previous two nights in Monteverde were pretty rough, so I was dealing with some unhappy travel companions (my wife and kids, 17 and 14). Hilariously, upon check-in, I was handed a key to Room 212, which had been called out in multiple 1* reviews. "AYFKM," I thought to myself. (My wife didn't see the same humor in the room assignment.) By any objective measure, those reviews were grossly inaccurate - the room was clean, relatively spacious, and comfortable. And the ocean views were great! Our guests at an early breakfast included dozens of monkeys swinging from the trees and running along the power lines - definitely one of our trip's highlights. All in all, we had a great stay - hope you do, too!
