My room was the Turret Room. It was so beautiful and so clean. The porch was so relaxing as I sipped my coffee and ate the homemade cookies! I could walk to the downtown and waterfront in minutes. Food was delicious too! The best homemade cookies for snack!

We stayed six nights in the Garden Bedchamber for our 30th wedding Anniversary! Everything was beautiful and perfect! The room was elegant and immaculate. Breakfast each morning was absolutely delicious, catering to our individual needs and making us feel like family. As a gluten free guest I was highly impressed with all the gluten free selections, such as muffins, scones, biscuits, egg soufflés, cookies and more, made just for me. The chef’s attention to detail was second to none, and each afternoon’s wine and hors d'oeuvre hour also catered to my gluten free needs with amazing treats. The property is filled with beautiful flowers, mature landscaping, and romantic areas to enjoy! Dave and Tonia’s hospitality and attention to detail is amazing, we felt so loved and we look forward to the day we can return! We highly recommend The White Doe Inn for any occasion, we thoroughly enjoyed every moment!

The Innkeepers, Dave and Tonia, were wonderful hosts. Great breakfasts at a beautiful property in a beautiful location. Freshly baked cookies always available as well as a daily Happy Hour with tasty treats and selection of wine. All guests also have complementary access to gourmet coffee from a top tier self serve coffee station. The Manteo harbor and boardwalk are an easy walk from the Inn.

My writer friends and I organized a writing retreat at the White Doe Inn. I'd stayed at the inn many times before the new owners took over, and I've always loved the gorgeous old Victorian, so I was confident my friends would love it too (they'd never been here). But the new owners, Tonia and Dave Roberts, exceeded our highest expectations. They are the warmest and most hospitable of hosts, and made us feel like visiting celebrities. We treated ourselves to one of Tonia's private chef's dinners, a delicious meal of burrata, fresh garden salad, sea bass over risotto, and a raspberry semifreddo, all homemade, all cooked to perfection. They helped us organize a storytelling event for 20, setting us up around the fire pit on the lawn with drinks and sliders and s'mores and seeing to everyone's comfort with extra blankets and heaters. And wow, those breakfasts. Just look at the photos; as good as they look, they taste better. Bottom line: It's wonderful to see the White Doe Inn restored to her most glorious by owners who infuse everything they do with heart. You will love it here.

Great B&B in Manteo. The home is beautiful with very thoughtful outdoor spaces to enjoy. The bed is comfortable. Grit and bacon are excellent. The pancake is ok. Would be good to have options of eggs (for guests who do not consume carbohydrates). The bathroom needs updating. The new owners are doing a good job keeping to the the history of this home.

We started snapping photos the moment we arrived, of the beautiful grounds and well-decorated welcoming interior. Gentle music and string lights add to the ambiance even outdoors as you approach the property. Dave and Tonya both are excellent hosts, accommodating and willing to go above and beyond to help with every aspect of your stay, from ideas and advice about local activities, to any details that would add to your experience. You will not go hungry here: there are always homemade snacks on offer, and a generous breakfast and happy hour each afternoon. The rest of the staff is super helpful and friendly as well. The rooms (we saw several) are all lovely and each has its own special charm. The sheets and beds were super comfy and there are all the amenities you could want in the rooms. Location in town is great, close to shops and restaurants but not in the crowded area, it's easy to get close parking. We felt pampered our entire 4 day stay, and enjoyed staying in such a well kept up historic home.

From the moment the reservations were made till the morning of checkout my wife and I were made to feel welcomed. Tonia greeted us on the front porch despite our slightly late arrival. David graciously gave us a tour of the inn making our next room decision extremely difficult! Every niche of the inn is filled with warm thoughtful touches that makes you appreciate the love they have for this inn. Tonia’s amazing breakfast and delicious homemade baking will keep you fueled as you explore the town. The rooms are gorgeous, comfortable with ample room. The WiFi was fast and reliable. Parking was always available on the side street.

Over the years, my wife and I have visited the Outer Banks on multiple occasions, typically staying in at northern end. For this trip, we sought a coastal New England-style inn with Southern charm. During our research, we discovered the White Doe Inn, which seemed to meet all our criteria—and it did. The inn is charming and ideally situated near the major attractions on historic Roanoke Island. There are several high-quality restaurants nearby offering local seafood and fresh produce, with many dining options and establishments within walking distance of the inn. For guests interested in visiting the nearby beaches, the inn provides excellent amenities such as chairs, umbrellas, and towels, eliminating the need to bring personal items. Additionally, the staff are highly attentive and committed to ensuring guest satisfaction. For those seeking a distinct experience in the Outer Banks, I highly recommend the White Doe Inn.
