It gave me a fantastic memory in my trip. The hotel is warmly decorated and the staff are exceptionally nice. The roof top open bath is a must. You can enjoy a nice bath with many stars in the sky. Delicious and healthy dinner. A place you must stay if you are in Okayama.

Well service, most staff can speak English or Mandarin other than Japanese . Food is delicious too

The amount of dinner was a little small, but it was very delicious! The breakfast was a little on the lighter side, but very delicious. The rice was especially delicious! I'm a woman in my 50s, but I ended up having seconds. The water in the bath was a little low, so it didn't warm me up. The landlady was very friendly, and I'd like to use this inn again.

Can go straight away, quiet and beautiful environment, warm and courteous workers. A very traditional Japanese hot spring hotel however no vending machine sent to the former gas station convenience store to buy all the snacks and beer.

There is a musty smell in the hotel, and the room is even more so that I can't sleep. The dinner set is very average.

Kaiseki cuisine is carefully prepared. The spring water is also very good. Due to skin beautifying effect. The hostess is friendly and welcoming. The hand-brewed coffee is also of a high standard.

Staying here was a wonderful traditional Japanese experience! The staff were friendly, helpful, and really went out of their way to make you feel special. The room we had felt like a traditional Japanese room, which was exactly what we wanted. The food was authentic and let us try all sorts of new amazing things. Beautiful scenery, stunning little town, great local food. Would recommend the rooftop onsen as well, felt like surreal experience. Thank you all for an amazing stay!!

This was my second time to come. Traditional Japanese style onsen with friendly, attentive and helpful staff. Madam boss was super nice and kind to introduce our dinner. Fresh ingredients and delicious, can feel the heart of chef! New renovated rooftop onsen was marvelous! Clear sky, shinning moonlight with sparkling stars! Can't miss this!!

Yubara Onsen is famous for its open-air bath on the riverbank, "Sunayu," and this inn is located next to it. Since dog-friendly rooms in the main building are quite expensive, we stayed at the annex "Hana-chan Stay" on the other side of the river. This has a cafe on the first floor and only one room on the second floor. This means that they only accept one group per day, and if you lay futons on the triple bed and tatami space, a total of five or six people can stay. The basic accommodation is without meals, but you can order dinner and breakfast at the time of reservation for an additional fee. "Hana-chan Stay" is right in front of "Sunayu," so it is extremely convenient for enjoying the open-air bath. The inn's proprietress is a dog lover and is also active in dog rescue activities. She told us that the staff take turns looking after the dogs they take in.

We stayed here to celebrate my husband's 70th birthday. We received a coupon for the Hakkei bento course, so we decided to stay the night. The open-air bath at Kawanoyu was broken, so we used the empty bath on the rooftop, but the changing room was unheated and very cold. There was no foot mat, so the floor was soaking wet. When we tried to use the toilet, the waste bin was piled high with waste. We lost interest in using it. The bath had no cover on the fence, so it was completely visible and we couldn't relax. We heard later that they had forgotten to lend us bathing suits. The Nepalese woman who guided us to the room said that there were face towels at the hot spring, so we went to Kawanoyu without any, but there were no permanent towels, so we couldn't wash our bodies. This is unacceptable at a hot spring inn. The room was moldy and humid, so it was cold, and we were worried that my husband's asthma would develop. There was also a small kotatsu, but it was too small for two people to use. I wish they would think about the customers, not just provide one. The food was as good as the reviews said, but the hostess and the people sitting behind me seemed to know each other, so they were too lively and noisy. We wanted to eat quietly. I'm sorry I couldn't give a good review.

We have been coming to this inn for decades, and whenever we come, we have a pleasant and comfortable stay. When we first came to Hakkei, we were still in our twenties. The couple who came before us were regulars. They continued to come, hoping that one day they would become regulars here. Now 20 years have passed...the inn has a pleasant and comfortable atmosphere whenever we come. We just assumed it would stay with us as a couple, and it is an inn that we will surely continue to visit...forever...it is a wonderful place that makes us want to do business with it for a long time to come.

We stayed at Hakkei for the purpose of viewing the autumn leaves and enjoying the hot springs. It was close to the sand bath and had a lovely atmosphere. All the food was delicious, but the salt-grilled amago trout was especially delicious. I don't like river fish, but this was my first time eating it from head to tail and it was delicious. However, the room was a little dark and calm, so it was difficult for us middle-aged ladies to read the letters. It would have been nice if there was an LED stand or something in the room. The landlady was very friendly and I became a big fan. I would definitely like to go again.

The food made with locally grown vegetables was delicious. The food was freshly cooked right in front of you in the dining area. But what about other things? As it is a large inn, the number of guests has dropped dramatically due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which is unavoidable, but it seems that they are keeping staff numbers to a minimum, and as a result, the service has deteriorated. The reply to my prior email inquiry was only a few days later and was not very detailed. I could hear low voices from the next room until late at night. It was close to the open-air sand bath, but the sand bath itself was not very appealing. There was no coffee service in the morning, and the cost performance was poor. For some reason, I received a coupon for nationwide travel support at the checklist.
