The Malvern

Very easy to book, which we did on the day we intended to stay. Warm welcome on arrival and a tour by a member of staff. We booked a suite as it was our honeymoon and it didn't disappoint. Nespresso coffee machine, Elemis products, jacuzzi bath with TV, four poster bed. There was also a complimentary fridge with water, prosecco and chocolate. The spa had plenty of beds, attentive staff who took drinks orders. There are 4 steam/sauna rooms and an outdoor pool. The dining experience was first class. Dinner was plentiful and delicious with brilliant staff. I will be returning.

The staff are amazing especially Ollie a total star could not have made us feel more welcome. Please do not be put off by the outside once in the spa it’s magical. Especially when it gets dark and the pool lights up and is so warm and relaxing. The cocktails are also amazing

A very underwhelming experience. It’s just like a glorified Premier Inn and leisure centre. Situated on the edge of a retail park. A view of Aldi from one window and Premier Inn from the other side. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly but I’m thinking this is because they need to pacify their guests continuously. Rooms very worn and scruffy with stained carpets in most of the hallways. Treatments were very nice which is one positive. To call this a “Malvern Hills” retreat is extremely misleading.

My sister and I had a lovely overnight stay recently. The room was lovely and clean and the breakfast was really nice with lots of choice. We used the spa area and had a treatment which was wonderful. We will return and would recommend. Thank you

Massage - I have visited the spa a few times before, but during my last visit the treatment room where I had my massage was cold, there was a heated bed but it only heated my middle section there was no heat for the legs or feet, the masseuse had to put a towel over my feet, I couldn't wait for it to be over to get dressed and warm up. The massage was fine but it is a different technique every time, there does not seem to be consistent approach. Spa Pool - The spa pool although heated was too cold, it was swimming pool temperature not hot tub temperature. Going to the outside pool gave me goose bumps. I would not visit again during the colder months but from experience even in summer it feels too cold. The air temperature of the pool area and changing rooms is good, it is the coldness of the water that is the problem. One of the saunas was cold and smelled bad but had not been closed. Overcrowded - The loungers were all full and some guests were unable to obtain a seat, this gave the feeling of been packed in sunbathing at a cheap spanish hotel rather than a relaxing spa experience. Spa Package - The fruit juice given as part of the package was a really cheap carton juice tasted like the cheapest juice from a budget supermarket. This was a really small detail but gives the impression that they are cost cutting at the expense of quality, they used to offer a real fruit smoothie. I would personally pay more for a better, more luxury experience. Staff - The staff is so nice, friendly and helpful, I felt welcomed. Restaurant - The food at the restaurant was really nice and the service good. The menu keeps changing and some of the menu choices are strange, I would appreciate more classic choices like a club sandwich, beefburger or caesar salad. This was a treat for Christmas so I was really disappointed and left after a couple of hours as I was cold and miserable. The quality has deteriorated since my last visit, are they cost cutting by not heating the pool properly and overcrowding? Sadly, I probably won't go again.

Been meaning to come here for ages, finally made it and it was worth it for the spa. The spa water was lovely, really warm and when you go to the outdoor area it's even steamier and even more gorgeous, especially in the evenings. All the the spa areas like pool, sauna, etc., scrub up well, however the hotel needs a little tlc in the rooms and communal areas. We were on the 1st floor and had to put up with some noisy guests above, made worse by really creeky floor boards. I asked to move the next day and was kindly moved to the 2nd floor. There were limited power points in the room - the bed headboard covered the power points by each bedside table, but there were two more points on the far side of the room. The bed was comfortable and the room had two wardrobes with plenty of hanging / storage space. There's a kettle and complimentary water and tea / coffee sachets. Got to mention the very, low toilet! I'm 5ft 7, my husband is 6ft 3, it was a long way down for us, I don't know if they are the same in all the rooms but I think they need to be a bit higher up. Not sure how those with mobility issues cope. We had a few dining probs with slow service, one morning it took nearly 45mins for our breakfast to be served, when it came my full English wasn't hot and some items not cooked satisfactorily. It was then too late to get anything fresh cooked because the chef had packed everything away! The restaurant manager quickly resolved this matter to my satisfaction but suffice to say I had to visit McDonalds after check out! We ate dinner there both nights, the steaks are good, nice cocktails. Overall the staff were friendly and helpful, the spa is lovely but there's room for improvement with the facilities / decor in the rooms, speed of service and cleaning. But I'd defintely return and would recommend the place.
