Hotel Castello Lake Front

Third time staying here and second in the junior living suite block (well worth it). Everything amazing as always, beautiful views, great service and breakfasts. In the Junior living suites you have access to a water and coffee machine as well as a private sunbathing area. We enjoyed dinners at Aristotle, Rossovivo, Da Nona Pino and Vidoc. Love a sandwich, small pizza snack from Peter Pan too. Can’t wait to visit again in another couple of years

we stayed at the Castello in the Living Suite. We had a family room for four people which provided more than enough space for the 4 of us.
 We also had a great outdoor area with more than enough loungers to sunbathe, and we were 10 yards from the lake. The room itself was spotlessly clean. The housekeeping staff did a great job every day. 
The hotel itself is beautifully located on the edge of the lake. The restaurant does excellent food at really good prices and the breakfast buffet is as good as other reviewers have described here. What really stood out was the cleanliness of the hotel and the attentiveness of the staff, and overall attention to detail. Malcesine is beautiful and the lake is beautiful. It's a really good place to spend a week in August. We were often on the Pontoon with the kids or out on the complimentary paddle boards at 8pm in the evening. Pound for pound this is probably the best hotel we have stayed in and we have stayed in hotels all over the world. We would love to visit again.

What makes this hotel so successful and so popular? Is it the glorious peaceful position right on the lakeside with views from heaven, whilst still being a few steps away from the centre of the delightful Malcesine? Is it the superb breakfast, the variety and quality of which are the best we have ever experienced anywhere? Is it the restaurant with the delicious food and charming, attentive staff? Is it the fact that there are plenty of sunloungers on the lawn overlooking the lake? Is it the comfort and quality of the rooms, beds and bedlinen and the bathrooms? Is it the helpfulness and friendliness of the reception staff? Is it the impeccable cleanliness of all public rooms and bedrooms? Well yes, all of these things. But the real secret is that this is a family-run hotel and it is run with tremendous passion and fanatical attention to detail. There are constant repairs and improvements and nothing is ever overlooked. Indeed the third generation of the family, the charming Pietro, has now joined the team. All the staff are respected and seem very happy, which is evidenced by the length of stay in their employment. No jobs are too menial for the managers (family members), who turn their hand to whatever needs doing, whilst being charming and attentive to all their guests. The only downside? It is now so popular that it gets booked up very quickly. In fact I think I should be keeping my mouth shut as it may add still further to the difficulty in booking a room! The location, the view , the breakfasts were excellent however we found the front office staff unwelcoming and less then helpful. It was difficult to get any tourist advice or suggestions. We ended up just not asking them anything. We used a taxi service called SIRMIOTAXI to get from Malcesine to Sirmione. They were reliable and professional . We used them as well to take us to Verona for the Opera and bring us back afterwards.

Three generations. Yes, grandfather purchased the property and the sons and their sons own and manage it now. This is what makes it so special. Yes, the location is spectacular, on the shore of Lake Garda right on the sidewalk that takes you down the shoreline or into the historic town and the Castello Scaligero. The rooms and suites are large, have lake views and are well equipped. The breakfast is the best we've had in all of Italy...even in 5-star hotels in major cities. Freshness, variety, custom preparations and the staff are remarkable. The onsite parking a few yards from the front door is a welcome amenity. But it's the warm and genuine welcome each time the Reception team greets you that makes this place special. This is a property that will remain among my top-five favorites and one to which I hope to return.

Returned to this hotel after an excellent experience a decade ago. This time round was even better! I booked the Grand View Living Suite and the view from its huge private terrace is simply breathtaking. The suite itself was large, spotlessly clean with a great walk-in power shower. Breakfast was also first rate, with a large range of options including freshly made omelettes and proper coffee. But perhaps best of all are the staff: welcoming, attentive and highly professional. If you’re planning on a trip to a Lake Garda look no further and book with confidence.
