Stayed here in September for 2 nights, and can quite honestly say it was one of the worst hotel experiences I've ever had. The first and most bizarre thing at this place is they don't let you check in until 4pm and check out is at 10am. When we arrived for our stay, we were early (unavoidable due to our travel arrangements) and they said they would try and get us in sooner, but it would depend on the cleaners. Fine, we went around and explored, had lunch and came back hours later just to see how things were going since we had not received a call yet. When we got back to reception, there were at least 5 other groups waiting around the foyer and front desk to check in. The staff were so slow and shambolic, at one stage we thought we heard someone say they had 'lost' the cleaner, and were not sure when they rooms would be ready, Sufficed to say, they did not check us in until exactly 4:30 - a total of 3 hours spent waiting in the lobby for our room. We also found it completely bizarre, that despite 'pre-authorising' the full amount of our stay on our nominated credit card on arrival, we also had to give a 100 euro security deposit AND pay the city tax in advance. Then we were told we would not get the security deposit back until someone had physically checked the room after we had checked out. And apparently if you drive yourself to the hotel and wish to park in the carpark in front of the building, you must let the staff know and then surrender your keys for 'security' reasons to the front desk. This seems incredibly odd, and no, it is not a valet service. As for the room itself, the building is just old and outdated. Terrible lighting, and the most uncomfortable bed and pillow. The walls are also incredibly thin and you can hear every noise from neighbouring rooms, the street, the soccer pitch around the corner etc. There were also signs everywhere that advised guests needed to purchase a swimming cap from reception in order to use the pool?! We did not bother checking if this was still an active policy as the beach is much nicer, the pool is just in a car park essentially and not very relaxing. It's hardly appropriate to call it a hotel and the cost per night is appalling given the service. Guests must even throw out their own rubbish! Honestly seems like a motel or public housing flats that has been converted into a shabby hotel. The only redeeming quality is the location. Other than that, I could not recommend anyone stay there.
