Résidence le Sun Valley

Hotel took booking for February in September. Planned ski school, ski hire etc all around it to give us a relaxing ski holiday. Answered questions to us in January, took payment end of January. Cancelled our reservation with no good reason or apology 7 days before UK school half term week. We had to scrabble things together to make best out of the holiday. Sounds like they did to several others too.

All good except pool and spa were not ready for the first week of the season. Staff nice, room was good. Easy assess to ski.

We visited Sun Valley for an early Easter ski trip with the kids. The great bits are that it’s ideally located and is proper ski in ski out being 2 minutes ski from the Bergerie chairlift. The apartment was absolutely fine for the price, spacious enough with a good balcony and smart TV with Netflix (ideal for the kids after a days skiing) and a little kitchenette for making meals. The decor is a little tired but the apartment was clean. The kitchenette was well appointed and allowed us to make breakfasts and dinner a few nights. The only challenge is there is no oven (just a microwave) but with a full sized hob and crucially a dishwasher we worked round that fine. The pool and spa area were great. The changing rooms and showers have been recently refurbished so were nice and whilst the pool isn’t the biggest it was great for the kids to have a bit of a swim in whilst the parents sat watching in the jacuzzi or nearby sauna and steam rooms. There is also an Intersport ski hire shop in the building- a massive plus as it took all the hassle out of renting skis. The only true negative for us was the terrible on site restaurant. We are there on the first night and never again. We also met people who had evening meals included in their stay who instead chose to eat at other restaurants at additional expense instead! The building is very close to restaurants and a reasonably well stocked Spar so covered all the bases we needed for a great ski trip. Would definitely return.
