Very close to the train station, very friendly and professional. Clean, comfortable, good breakfast options, excellent coffee.

It’s Sunday afternoon, late lunch time, there are just a handful of customers (whilst many other restaurants nearby are full): I first asked the waitress at the bar if food is being served - and got a first mouthful of her grumpy reply. I sat down, looked at the menue and opted for the salmon (happened to be most expensive dish on their menu), and waited and waited and waited ( I was not in a hurry, by the way). Finally, to make it easier for her, I went to the bar to place my order (to make it easier for her), and got a 2nd rude mouthful from her (‘i will come to your table etc’). When she eventually turned up, she downright rudely told me ‘the salmon is for dinner, now it is lunch time’ and walked away. And so did I This lady should be fired - she has zero aptitude for gastronomy. Not even a shred of politeness - just pure aggressive rudeness

We reserved a table for 2 for an evening dinner. But on arrival, all tables were taken, and nobody had bothered to reserve a space. We were shown to an empty room, no atmosphere with no views. The waitress was rude, abrupt, and not bothered. This is not service. We did not stay. Poor management.

The hotel and Maastricht area is charming, clean, feels like college environment. Have to pay $16.50/day for parking at the Q.

Loved our stay here! We were visiting family for Christmas and choose this hotel because it this was right down the road from their place. Plus, it is close to almost everything you need during your visit. Train Station, Q-Parking, center of town and shops are just a few steps away. Check in was easy and the staff were all welcoming. You check in at the bar inside the restaurant, so you will not be able to check in if you arrive after hours. You receive a voucher for bites at the bar. Sadly, we did not have time to enjoy this but I heard great things about their food from family. We booked the Basic Double Room, which was small but had everything we needed. Was cleaned every night and even left us a treat for Christmas. If you are American, note they do not supply washcloths and to bring your own.

Room is good, but very small for the price even for Maastricht standards. Especially that it’s more as a B&B than a hotel. Decreasing the price by 10/15% would make it more suitable for the value. The meals in the restaurant are great (and I mean my word). People working there are very friendly.

We had a first floor room overlooking the outdoor cafe area, which added a bit of background noise to the room, but not bad and what one should expect. The room was nice, well maintained, had a cool design and was well designed even though it was a bit small - don’t bring a large suitcase :-) Staff were super friendly and the breakfast was awesome

The service was the true definitely of hospitality - personal and authentic. Location is great, food and bar were lovely. The staff was very helpful and accommodating, helping with bike rentals next door. The rooms are smaller but nice, clean and modern with a great shower and comfy bed. And AC!

This hotel is very good - centered in the middle of Maastricht and my room was just absolutely wonderful.
The cleaning was good and the staff were nice. Unfortunately the first day I had to wait 50 minutes for breakfast but on the second day breakfast came right on time.

A group of us stayed at the Alex in March 2023 and we all loved the hotel. The rooms and bathrooms are very clean and the beds are comfortable with nice linen. There isn't a lift so if you don’t like stairs chose a lower floor, however we always found a member of the Alex team in the restaurant to help with our luggage. The food in the restaurant is excellent for a small hotel. Everything was freshly made and delicious - breakfast was very good value. The best thing about the Alex hotel is the friendly staff. They couldn't do enough to make our stay enjoyable and welcomed us 'home’ every evening with a smile and a drink in the bar! They always asked what else they could do to make our stay enjoyable, and by the end felt like family! A special shoutout to Michael who helped when our car broke down - he did all he could to find us a garage and helped us with the parking. I must congratulate Luka and her whole team on running a wonderful hotel. We look forward to coming back soon!

A group of us stayed at the Alex in March 2022 and we were all very happy there. The rooms and bathrooms are very clean and there are comfortable beds with nice linen. There isn’t much space for clothes but enough for a city trip and more hangers available on request. There isn’t a lift in the building but we always found a member of the Alex team in the restaurant to help with our luggage. The food in the restaurant is very good. Breakfast was freshly made, delicious and set us up for the date ahead ! Everything we ate from the breakfast, lunch and dinner menus was all excellent. The best thing about the Alex hotel is the friendly staff. They couldn’t do enough to make our stay enjoyable and welcomed us ‘home’ every evening with a smile and a drink in the bar ! They always asked what else they could do to make our stay enjoyable, and by the end felt like family ! We look forward to coming back soon ! Great location - close to the railway station, and within the old part of town. Friendly staff. I had a spacious room (Nr 3), well designed, amazing bath room. The restaurant had a nice little menu. There are lots of trendy shops, bars and restaurants nearby

We were a group of 6 visiting Maastricht for a few days. We were staying at a hotel opposite the Alex and wanted a local restaurant. we had not booked but were recommended by hotel to try the Alex. We sat outside and were offered bot the "nibbles" menu and the set price menu, which was specially offered during the Andre Rieu festival. I can honestly say that we were all blown away by the food. In my opinion one of the best meals I have had in a long time. The chef must be applauded for producing such perfectly presented , fresh and spectacularly flavoured dishes. The waiter and waitress that served us also were brilliant, attentive and explained the Dutch menu to us in perfect English. The cocktails and wine were also excellent and at the end we were not only presented with a surprisingly low bill, we were given complimentary drinks by the owner/manager who was more than happy to sit and chat to us. Brilliant restaurant and we are definitely returning there. Thanks for finishing our holiday with a great experience.

I should preface that I enjoyed this hotel, but it did not suit my needs and anyone traveling for business should just keep that in mind. The rooms and bathrooms are nice and the hotel is in a very nice location. The restaurant and staff are very nice. Hotel breakfast was 10/10 every day. However, we came for 2 weeks for business and unfortunately found that the room did not have any clothes storage. No rack, no dresser, no closet, not even a drawer in a bedside table. I asked staff for a clothing rack and an iron (as I had 2 weeks worth of business formal clothing) and they said they didn't have any but could ask in the employee groupchat if anyone had one at home. While this is very nice and proactive of them, I think it would be better if they had some racks, irons, steamers, stashed away in storage for those who might need them. I ended up buying a rack and an iron and sharing it with a colleague also staying in the hotel. Also, no lift, normal for Holland but should be noted. Otherwise it was a good hotel, I'm sure perfect for backpackers or weekend trips. Just keep in mind that it is not particularly suited to business needs or longer stays.
