When we first pulled into the tiny parking lot, we thought, what have we done? The motel did not look promising. The room was good, though. My comments refer to room 12 only; I didn't see others. The room appeared to have been renovated recently. The bathroom fixtures were new, the unusually tall beds were comfortable and didn't sag, and there were lots of electrical outlets. The room is small and qualifies as bare bones. The air conditioner worked nicely. The small refrigerator worked well, but the freezer part didn't freeze well. Wi-Fi was adequate. There is no microwave in any room. The communal microwave is in a little closet between two units. We didn't use it. There was no ice maker. There are not enough parking stalls for the number of rooms, but we never had a problem finding a vacant spot. This was the first motel we have stayed in since the COVID debacle started where the staff did daily room cleaning, making up the beds, etc. The original pillows in the room were ridiculously large and hard, but the desk clerk brought us more conventional pillows when we asked. The hotel seemed like a good deal for the area in Los Angeles where we wanted to stay. I deducted one star for less than thorough cleaning of the room, but the fact that they had daily cleaning at all surprised and pleased us.
