Brilliantly situated YHA in London with affordable private rooms, cafe, bar, communal kitchen, lounge, clean rooms and comfy beds. About a 30minute scenic walk to Tower Bridge, an excellent location for budget travellers.

The service is appalling, with the rooms not clean regularly creating an unsatisfactory feel to the room.The bathroom had a hole in the floor and a huge well in the floor causing a slip hazard. As well as that hair was found on the walls of the shower creating a disgusting disturbance. The people in the hostel as well were very rude as a women came out in a shirt and lingerie scream at the people in our hallway giving us a terrible time and terrors through the night. With further investigation to this disturbance we later found out it was here school childeren creating the disturbance. Along side this, the people here were reckless with our luggage and broken belongings were found later while opening our suitcases. This horrific experience left us all scared for out safety and sanitary cleanliness with the lack of cleaner in the builders. To get to sleep that night, we found nibbles in our bed sheet from what looked like rats or human damage causing us to worry. With the lack of sleep and night terrors all night I WOULD NOT RECOMEND, this hotel for any other school or friends looking for a place to stay for the night!

I am female , 59 and travelling alone as i sit on council for the Royal College of Podiatry and I needed to travel from Cumbria and stay one night. The hostel is a fabulous 20min walk from Providence Square offices. I’m not good on the tube, but found the hostel easily and welcomed by fabulous young ladies on reception. My room was 407.. it’s fine, clean, comfy bad, fan, private bathroom in room. As we always stay in yha, I’d bought towel, hairdryer etc… I had breakfast this morning, which was really good.

Writing this because I have just booked to stay again, and saw someone had left a negative review. My experience was 100% positive, the room and bathroom were perfectly clean, cleaner than in many more expensive places I've stayed in the UK and abroad. The self catering kitchen was also very clean and I was confident to use everything. That was quite impressive as it is well used by guests. There is also a small but very comfy lounge and TV room downstairs, which a couple of people were using to work in during the day. That's in addition to the cafe with sofas and tables upstairs. Perhaps I was lucky but the dorm room was large and had only one other person in it, at the other side, and two bathrooms, so it was pretty much a spacious hotel room and for only £18 a night, which is amazing for London, and I had a totally peaceful and comfy night's sleep.

We got here easily enough, a short walk from Canada Water. As we began the walk there was a Sainsbury's which is useful if you need any bits. The hostel seemed to be in a relatively quiet location with little street noise especially past a certain time. We were checked in by staff who were polite though seemed busy. Myself, my partner and our three children stayed in a private 6 person room. Our room was clean, including the toilet and shower. Each bed had a handy reading light and charger socket. A big group was staying and eating dinner so we were recommended to go to the nearby Greene King pub to eat ours, which is literally over the road if you leave by the back gate and is right on the edge of the Thames. There was a little noise as we were settling down to sleep at about 9pm and I was worried it might continue but it didn't and we all had a good night's sleep. We didn't realise towels aren't provided, so sadly couldn't take advantage of the shower. The communal self-catering area was busy in the morning but everyone was friendly. The nearest tube was under a 10 minute walk away. We opted to get an Uber hop on, hop off day ticket (between £40/45 for a family - check online for discounts) and got our first boat from the nearby Double Tree wharf which you access through the Hilton hotel on Rothehithe Street. From there we went to the London Docklands Museum which if you're traveling with children I'd really recommend. We had a good stay here. We used to stay in Travelodge or Premier Inn but since our third child turned 3 we need two rooms and don't fit in a family room. This YHA hostel made an overnight stay in London affordable for us again which is great.
