My wife and I travelled to London to meet up with her relatives who were visiting from America, and also to explore for a few days besides. Neither of us like London, but meeting relatives was important to us. It turns out, our feelings towards London on our last visit were coloured by the quality of our stay. This time things were very different. Check-in was quick and smooth. Breakfast and dinner were simple but tasty. The rooms were smart, clean, tidy and a good size by London standards. We stayed in a Premier Plus room, which I think are a little larger. The ultimate Wi-Fi was a bit patchy at times, but that wasn’t too important to us as we’d already pre downloaded plenty of shows. With your Premier Plus room you get a voucher code to access ultimate Wi-Fi. If you aren’t given the codes at check-in, just ask at reception. The staff at Premier Inn Blackfriars, were very friendly, helpful and professional from check-in to check-out. For one evening meal, my wife wanted a burger, but couldn’t eat the cheese or the bun due to a milk allergy. She asked for vegan cheese and bacon instead of a bun. What she received was two burger patties stacked, with vegan cheese on top, with the bacon decorating it in a cross. It was an unusual request which could have been denied, or just served in an ordinary way, but we really appreciated the extra effort to make it presentable. We enjoyed our stay so much we extended it by an extra day. Staff talked us through the process and it was quickly sorted with a smile. It would have been nice to have been able to extend the stay at the desk rather than having to book a day on the website, but that’s not a criticism. After we had checked out and were waiting for the Uber, I realised I’d left my jacket in my room. I dashed back into the hotel where a member of staff quickly set up a new keycard for me. I raced back up to the room, grabbed my jacket, handed in the key card and ran back outside to the waiting Uber. Really well done to the member of staff on the desk for sorting it so quickly. The staff were great to us, we even had a bit of a chat to one member of staff when it was a bit quiet at early dinner time. They all gave the place such a friendly vibe and we felt we could ask them anything. What also impressed me was how they all worked as a team, especially during meal times, when, if one staff member was away doing something else another was on hand to take their place and back them up. They moved around the dining area quickly clearing tables, and being available for any guest, checking in with them from time to time, while always being unobtrusive. They seemed to communicate really well with each other and appeared to genuinely get on well with each other. After this experience, my wife and I quite like London and will return, and when we do, we will stay Premier Inn Blackfriars.
