Cordial Mogán Solaz

I'd previously mistakenly posted this review on the Mogan Playa, now correcting it as it refers to the Mogan Solaz. We'd previously stayed in a Solaz one bedroom apartment April 2024, but this time around, went with our daughter, her husband & young toddler to 2 bed apartment. When we arrived at the apartment (no. 1A), it became quickly obvious that the apartment was in desperate need of refurbishment, in fact we felt truly insulted regarding the lack of attention to detail, especially considering the premium price we were paying. By no means exhaustive list of deficiencies as follows, and we have photos to illustrate the issues:- 1. Sunloungers on outside terrace were filthy, and we had oly two mis-matched & ancient outdoor wicker chairs. The dining table on terrace was rickety & cracked, with the top veneer peeling off. The terrace furniture resembled a jumble sale. 2. The balustrade around the terrace was incomplete, with the gap allowing for a drop of around 12 feet, especially for an unsuspecting toddler. The hotel had covered the gap with a sheet of plywood, held in place by 2 cable ties. 3. Internally, the main lightswitch was hanging off the wall. 4. The air-con in the main living area wasn't working properly, and there was no air-con in the 2nd bedroom. 5. Very little cutlery supplied in the kitchen area, not even a bread knife. 6. Water pressure was really poor in shower. 7. Nowhere to store clothes in the 2nd bedroom, we had to keep them in our suitcase in main living area. 8. Fire extinguisher in apartment was 2 years beyond it’s re-inspection due date, a basic contravention of Health & Safety regulations…!!! 9. Main bedroom mysteriously had a barstool in corner of room….. We reported all the above at the Hotel reception, and had to pursue them 3 further times to eventually obtain a response and some action. Special thanks to Valeria, the assistant manager, for her efforts to try to resolve some of the issues (albeit half-way through our holiday), and she even organised a complementary dinner for us, which was a lovely gesture. HOWEVER, why did we, as customers have to highlight all of the above issues for action to be taken??? unfortunately, shocking attention to detail by the hotel management. Given that we love the location & the hotel grounds, we've re-booked to go back to the Solaz in April, 2025, just hope it's a much improved experience this time around....!!!!

We stayed for two very enjoyable weeks in June in a one-bedroom superior apartment and also made use of facilities in the adjoining Cordial Mogan Playa Hotel. Overall we were very happy with the Solaz and would happily return in the future. We booked directly with the hotel after joining "Club Cordial" and received the discount (6 nights for the price of 7). We were also able to pick the exact room we wanted on a map!! Why don't more hotels do this? The Cordial Mogan Solaz is made up of three small blocks of apartments attached to the Cordial Mogan Playa Hotel. Each block has 5-10 apartments, with one block on the grounds of the Cordial Mogan Playa Hotel and the other two blocks just across a very quiet street next door (literally seconds from the hotel grounds). As far as we could tell, the standard (not superior) one-bed apartments are in an older block a few doors up the street and we did not see what these were like. Check in was at the Cordial Mogan Playa hotel reception. We received a very friendly welcome and a complementary drink. We had to pay a little extra for use of the safe (about €40 for two weeks which, as others have said, was a little much). After checking in, you can either walk through the hotel to the apartments or, if you have a car, drive around the hotel (and the whole town!!) to the apartments. Free, secure underground parking is available under the apartments and we found this very convenient. We stayed in a one-bedroom Superior apartment in a small block just across the side street from the back of the hotel. This is a small block of modern (ca. 2019) one- and two-bed superior apartments, each with a large sun terrace with private jacuzzi. The garage is in the basement and there is a lift to each floor. The private sun terrace for the one-bedroom superior apartments is on the roof of the one-bed superior apartments, which also have a large balcony off the living room and bedroom. The roof terrace with private jacuzzi can only be accessed by a private narrow spiral staircase, which may cause accessibility issues for some. Our apartment was exceptionally clean and serviced every day, if required. The communal areas were also kept really clean. The apartment was modern, bright and very comfortable – perfect for a two-week stay for a couple. There was also a sofa bed in the living area. Overall it lived up to the impression from the hotel website and virtual tour. The kitchen had a hob, washing machine, dishwasher, microwave large fridge-freezer and several ways to make coffee and tea. (No oven but this was not a problem for us.) Overall, it was very well equipped for a holiday where you might mix eating in and eating out. We had breakfast most mornings in the hotel (with family who were staying in the Cordial Mogan Playa). Breakfast was not too busy (low season in June) and overall good with plenty of options. There are two large pools in the Cordial Modal Playa, which residents of the Mogan Solaz can use. We felt

Stayed in a Solaz two bedroomed duplex a stones throw from the family pool and a few minutes walk from the beach. The apartment was spacious, and really well equipped. But the air conditioning was truly awful and it was routinely cooler outside that it was inside. Despite the system being set for 20.5 degrees the coolest the aircon ever achieved was 26 degrees and topped 28 several times. It was so hot at night in both bedrooms we had to go out and buy electric fans. There were two other families there who had complained so much that the hotel brought in huge noisy dehumidifiers to try to cool their apartments . We loved Puerto Mogan but despite the considerable expense of the Solaz duplex our holiday was ruined and we will not go back

Large balcony and great location with excellent appliances. Facilities of the resort were excellent. The breakfast which was included was exceptional. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Underground parking included and lift as well. Outside shower to clean off before jumping in your own jacuzzi!

We stayed in a one bedroom apartment which was clean and modern. We loved the fact we were located in the beautiful grounds of the Mogan Playa Hotel. The swimming pools were lovely and warm. The hotel reception gave us a very welcoming greeting but when we checked out we were not asked if we had enjoyed our stay. I had assumed we would have been asked to complete a guest satisfaction form of some kind. I really enjoyed the whole ambience of the apartments and the hotel but I found breakfast to be very frustrating. The food was quite good but the plates were cold. You sometimes could not find a set table or get anyone to bring you coffee. The restaurant staff were run off their feet and I observed for most of the week the managers just stood and greeted the guests. That's great if they have enough people but they don't. They should have been helping the waiting staff, which they did on two days towards the end of our stay.I found myself irritated and annoyed ,frequently eating most of my hot breakfast (on a cold plate) by the time the coffee arrived. It must be soul destroying for the waiting staff as it is not their fault that guests like me becoming irritated. Breakfast was include and we didn't have the choice not to pay it. We really liked the Mogan Solaz and the hotel but they need more staff in the breakfast restaurant. Ian & Elaine Thompson

Second time in the Solaz apartments as a family of four with two autistic boys age 12 and 15. We booked direct with the hotel this year and were allocated Solaz duplex 103 which is within the grounds of the Cordial Mogan Playa hotel; most Solaz apartments are not, they are separate. What a shambles 103 is! It wasn't cleaned properly, there were cockroaches and bugs, the walls were scuffed, it was mouldy in the ensuite bathroom, there was a constant loud clicking sound 24/7 coming from motion sensors and the air conditioning didn't work, it was hotter than hell. Worse still, the lock on the sliding bathroom door in the ensuite clicked shut because it was faulty, trapping me in the bathroom shouting for help for half an hour! My husband unscrewed the lock from the outside. We changed apartments to Solaz 105 and from then on had a better experience. Cool air conditioning in the ensuite bedroom and living area, although like last year the aircon in the twin bedroom was poor. Very private hot tub on the balcony, great self catering facilities and no clicking noise. We negotiated with one of the hotel managers (Marcos) as our first night/day was ruined and he sorted things out. The Solaz apartments are expensive and the ones starting with 100 have air conditioning issues in at least one room. There are steep stairs in the duplex, making it unsuitable for anyone with mobility/sight issues - please be careful coming down the stairs in the dark. There is a distinct lack of mirrors in the ensuite bedroom which would be easily rectified and I cannot understand why it hasn't. There is space for a full length mirror above an electrical socket. All in all an excellent 6 days of a 7 night holiday, hence I have given a 3 out of 5 review. I will review the Cordial Mogan Playa hotel separately and I hope the hotel sorts out the maintenance issues I have detailed. See you again soon!
